About me (briefly):
I'm a few months away from posting in the "Over Age 35" sub forum. I've been lifting for about 9 years. I focused on powerlifting for the first few years. I then started lifting with a friend who was more interested in aesthetics for a couple of years.
For the past couple of years, my lifting has been somewhat unfocused. I should say that my focus has been more on my wife and two daughters (4 and 2). We bought our first house last year and for most of the past year, I have had to work two jobs to stay afloat.
Over the past couple of years, I have flirted with high blood pressure and my doctor has recommended that increase cardio and drop a few lbs.. During the past holiday season (Thanksgiving/Christmas), I ate junk every day and somewhat let myself go. I saw some holiday pictures of myself and decided that I was going to finally start incorporating cardio and stop eating crap.
Since the beginning of this year, I have lost 15 lbs and feel great. I would like to lose about 10 more and get down to 175, sacrificing as little muscle as possible.
With my busy life, I don't have as much time as I would like to commit to the gym and diet, but I do the best I can, make my workouts count, and try to eat as clean as possible.

The plan
I plan to lift M, W, F and do cardio T, Th, and Sat/Sun (if possible). I have a full body routine that incorporates a chest and back movement each session with one session focusing on shoulders, one on tris, and one on bis. My workouts are short, as I go to the gym on my lunch break (1 mile from my work).
M-Shoulder focus
Flat BB Bench
Cable Row
Lat raise
Rear flies
W-Tricep focus
Dips
Pull ups
Rope pressdowns
Cable kickbacks
F-Bicep focus
Incline DB press
Lat pull down (close grip, palms facing)
E-Z curls
DB curls
Cardio on off days
Other supplements I will be taking:
RPM (App Nut) - pre lifting
Creating mono - 5g daily
Peak Beta (MN) (Beta Alanine) - 3 caps daily

Day 1
Products arrive late yesterday, so I had to rip into them today. The plan was to do the Stairmaster. I try to mix up my cardio types and machines. I alternate between HIIT and steady state.
Took two scoops of RPG IBCAA - Green Apple Grenade
HOLY FREAKING CRAP THIS STUFF IS DELICIOUS!!!
I knew I've tasted this flavor before but I couldn't put my finger on where it was. Then it hit me. This is probably somewhat obscure, but the taste is EXACTLY like the green apple flavor of bazooka bubble gum. The only reason I know this is because I was addicted to that gum when I was 8/9 years old. If any of you remember that taste - this is exactly it. It's a candy-like, sweeter green apple - not sour.
Mixed instantly as advertised. No foam/chunks.
I can honestly and boldly say already, that this is the best tasting supp I've ever had. I sipped half of the IBCAA prior to my workout and the rest during/after.
I popped three Cordygens about 45 minutes prior to my session (as per directions). I know it is too early to tell the effects of it, I will say that I went the longest that I ever have on the Stairmaster. I did 5 minutes at level 5, then 20 minutes at level 8, then a 5 minute cool down. I have never lasted 30 minutes on the Stairmaster. My previous best was about 20-25 minutes.

Hello
O dam! Completely missed this thread yesterday, but definitely in now!
Glad you like the Green Apple Grenade RPG, you got me all excited to try it now
Also good to hear your Cordygen experience was solid the first time around, hopefully it stays that way!

Friday, 4/13 - Bicep Focus
I've decided that I will only be taking the Cordygen on cardio days for now. Towards the end of the log, I will see how it affect my lifting.
2 scoops RPG mixed in 20oz. water. Sipped half pre and the rest during/post:
Incline DB Press - 50x10, 60x10, 70x8
Lat pulldown (CG, palms facing) - 100x10, 120x10, 140x10
E-Z curls (25lb. bar) - 55x10, 65x10, 75x8
Cable curl (one arm, cross body, slow negative) - 20x10, 20x10
Again - super tasty. No aftertaste, nice and clean. Compared to some other BCAA products I've tried (many), there is much less of a chemically taste.

I would also like to highlight ingredients in each product throughout this log, starting with RPG and the amazing antioxidant, NAC. Here is a great thread with NAC studies:

Another awesome thread with NAC info complied:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...&highlight=NAC
Basically, NAC is one of the best anti-oxidants out there. In a nutshell (from the above link), Supplemental antioxidants--NAC is one of many-- are believed to protect the body's cells from altered oxygen molecules called free radicals. Damage from free radicals is thought to be a signficant factor in such degenerative conditions as cancer and heart disease. Of course, factors other than oxidative damage, such as life style factors and genetic susceptibility, play strong roles in disease development as well. The hope is that by reducing susceptibility to free radical damage, a person may further lower susceptibility to a variety of chronic medical conditions. Incidentally, it is by means of its antioxidant actions that NAC helps the liver eliminate potentially dangerous environmental and biological toxins from the body.

I know exactly what you're talking about you when you say some others have a chemical taste. Glad to hear this one doesn't. I bethose cable curls are a killer. Keep working hard man!

Yeah, you know, it looks like a low amount of weight (20 lbs.), but I've learned that all cable machines have different tensions and a lot of it has to do with the pulley set up (don't know much about physics). These are all new machines at the gym. On the old ones, for example, I could do the full stack of rope press downs (180lbs.). With the new machines, 75lbs. is a struggle.

I love the machines that give you a single number without a defined unit.

It's weird how that works out sometimes. At my old gym, the machine weights just seemed lighter. Like leg press and ext and lat pulls were quite a bit "easier" than at my new gyms. Either I got considerably weeker by walking through the door of the new gym, or 200lbs is not always 200lbs.

Popped 3 Cordygens and hit the local high school track. Now, keep in mind this is not my usual venue and I'm really just starting up the cardio. Walked a lap, ran 4 laps, then I did a couple of sprints (HIIT). The mile felt tough; I was pretty winded. Felt like a pretty standard workout for me when I start up cardio.
Took two scoops of RPG afterward.

still enjoying the RPG flavor? How many servings do you take a day? Just one intraworkout?

4/16 - Shoulder focus
Flat BB Press - 135x10, 165x8, 185x5
Cable Row - 140x10, 160x10, 180x8
Lat raises - 20x10, 30x10, 35x8
Rear flies (DBs) - 17.5x10, 20x10
2 scoops RPG (and mono) mixed with 16oz water. Half taken pre, the rest intra/post. Flavor is so good. I'm starting to really look forward to it.
Bench numbers not where they used to be, but I have been laying off flat BB bench for a while and I'm cutting, so I expected some decrease in strenght. Workout felt great in general.

keep working hard and you'll like the results man. Numbers look good for early on in the log. I lost a ton of strength during my cut period. Now it's time to get it all back!

About that....
Turns out I spoke too soon. Found out that it's on a Sunday. No good. My wife and I lead the music at our church (paying gig), also, it was a $60 registration fee, which turned me off.
So, my goal is to run 3 miles by the start of summer and 5 miles by the end of summer.

All good man, 5 miles is still a solid goal, I don't think I've ever run more than 2

Having to skip my lifting session today, as I had errands to run. Plus, my wife and I have a date night at a fancy restaurant tonight and I would have no time to shower.

We've all been there man. And you clearly have kids so you better make the most of any chance you have to get a night out! Maybe an inhome cardio session later ehh? (I'm sorry that's completely inappropriate)
Have fun on the date!

Ha... would it be a bad idea to hop out of bed after a "home cardio session" and run downstairs to make a protein shake? "sorry babe, gotta get the protein in me as soon as possible postworkout."

Haha, or better yet, intra-cardio. "Babe what are you sipping on?" "RPG baby."

bwahahaha... I love it. That would be worse that the casual glance at the TV for a quick score check of the game that you conveniently left on. Horibble.

4/19
Popped three Cordygens. Mixed 2 scoops RPG in about 20 oz. water. Sipped a few pre and the rest post.
HIIT on treadmill.
7 minute warm up (walk into jog @ 5.0)
Then intervals - 1:00 @ 8.5 followed by 1:30 @ 4.5
Did this 6 times.
The last interval was @ 9.0
Cool down.
Felt fantastic. This was the easiest HIIT session I have ever done. Again, I don't have much cardio experience, but considering the highest I have ever set the intense part of the intervals was at 8.0, I think this says a lot about Cordygen.
