I started doing these about a month ago, switched from seated press. I do them both behind the back and in front. I like 'em.

Yep, standing press fan as well. What's cool about it is that once you hit failure doing it strict, can make it into a push press to really ramp it up

When I do them, I do them seated pressing my back against the back of the bench. Standing hurts my lower back. Having a slipped disc years ago...and the pain that went with it....I am especially apprehensive any time I feel lower back pain.

Oh how getting old sucks...probably why I am doing all I can to slow down the process.

If you got to do it seated might as well go all the way and sit on the floor and do a z press which is an awesome core workout.

credit goes to Charles Poliquin...and it works great, especially for those of us with lower back "issues" (herniated disk)... changing the stance will relieve the pressure and more importantly reduce the tendency to over arch the back...my overhead press has gone up substantially in the past 2 years...

I experimented a bit today doing 5/3/1 and BBB OHP pressing with the straight bar today and I noticed two things: w/ the fatgripz no shoulder pain, without them lots of discomfort and that if you get under the bar on every rep like Ripptoe (nothing like coaching in jeans w/ a big beer gut) said it takes a lot of pressure off my back.
