My boss just sent an email out to everyone saying that she is taking us all out for a nice meal to say thanks for all our hard work next Friday at noon. I'm not going. I hate these kind of "events". I follow Palumbo's keto diet and I am allowed ONE cheat meal per week and I choose to eat this cheat meal with my wife - it is a chance for us to hang out, have drinks and have fun together -- which we don't often get to do because of our schedules. Why should I be expected to waste my f'n cheat meal on my boring coworkers at some chitty restaurant where I don't even get to enjoy my food? FUK. Now I have to deal with all these idiots asking me why I won't go and why I won't eat the food there - I AM NOT GETTING INTO THIS SHYT WITH THEM AGAIN. Is it really any of their business. They always respond the same way...."You can cheat this once...." I'm about to roid rage on a bitch.
I just told my boss I wasn't going, when she asked why I said, "I don't want to".
I'm leaving it at that. Fuk it.

Yeah, it sucks because unless you compete people just think you're an idiot or have some kind of eating disorder. This is my life and my hobby - it's what I do outside of work. Most don't understand it because they are all content to be and remain average. I feel like most of them want to suck you down with them...into their flabby, loose skinned abyss.

It's not easy being keto, but the rewards outweigh all. I do sometimes have to attend 'eating' events, but I mostly order meat and vegetables (hold everything else). It is doable. And if people ask questions, I just say that I have a gluten allergy. This shuts them up right away, as people 'feel' for allergies. If I tell them I'm on keto, I then have to pepper the you know what.

Who says you have to eat? If anything, you should just go in order to be more of an appealing employee. Of course, people will probably ask why you're not getting anything, but you could simply reply with "oh, I'm not hungry, but thanks." Going into major detail as to why you don't eat certain foods with people who can't relate is just pointless.
