-This email is from me to the head of the dept
Professor is ugly, so for your time:Dear Dr. [head of dept],
My name is [Reeces Brah]. I graduated from [college] in December, with a degree in English. I know this is a busy time of year for you and all faculty members, so I appreciate you taking the time to read this email.
I would like to bring to your attention Dr. [name], whom I had for sociology of medicine in the Fall of 2011. One of our assignments was a final paper about a health problem in [city]. I met with Dr. [name] several times during the semester in which we discussed my paper topic, and read my paper a few times over before it was due. I really appreciated her taking the time out to give me suggestions on my paper. I did this so I could get a good grade on the paper to help boost my GPA and help my chances for admittance into graduate school.
However, despite these meetings, I received an F (47%) on the assignment. How can a professor look at a student's paper, tell that student it is okay, and then give the student an F? Not only is this inappropriate, but I think this shows a professor who does not care about her student's well being.
In my entire undergraduate career, I have never received lower than a C on any paper, so I believe this grade is more of a reflection on Dr. [name], than it is on me.
I do not expect my grade to be changed, but I wanted to bring to your attention that Dr. [name] does not seem to have her student's best interest at heart. For a professor to look over a student's paper before the due date, make corrections and suggestions, and still give the student a failing grade is unacceptable. I have taken many classes in the sociology department at [school], I enjoyed each, and each professor fit more with [school]'s mission statement than Dr. [name] does.
Thank you for your time.
[Reeces]

It's people like you who stress over the little things in life that end up being miserable. Whats one paper out of the hundreds you wrote in your undergrad, on the other hand you could be doing future students a favour by altering the head of the department about this.
