Dennis: Actually Mac, you got it backwards. See, a power-bottom's actually generating all the power by doing most of the work.

Mac: Now Dennis, I've heard that speed has something to do with it.

Dennis: Speed has everything to do with it. You see, the speed of the bottom informs the top how much pressure he's supposed to apply. Speed's the name of the game. Right, buddy?

DO them both now. Hit the weight first and then hit the elliptical afterwards.

All you need to lose weight is to eat less calories than you need. Get to the nutrition forum and figure out your maint level of cals then go from there. I would advise you to get on a simple beginner weight lifting program as well.

That's what I usually do but not seeing results some days do more cardio than others mix in the Insanity type cardio in between idk what to do maybe after Xmas start over

At your current weight level, I would think muscularity and tightening up would be the focus of your workouts. Here's my 2 cents, I would say to intensify your cardio (fast/slow/fast/slow) not more. Get that heart rate going.

Would 30 mins a day of elliptical training combined with a decent diet be enough to lose about 10 lbs a month? I would like to be around 200 lbs by June. And if I'm happy with my results at that time I do believe I would then add in the weights to tone it up and get my definition... And my happy with my results depends on whether 60 lbs is enough to get rid of my belly fat...

Just going to reaffirm what everyone else said. Strength/resistance is essential for what you are attempting to do. By participating in resistance training you will decrease the amount of lean muscle mass that is lost by your diet. You don't want to end up as one of those individuals that do not preserve the lean muscle mass. They typically do not have the results they want because the 'loose skin' makes them appear to be softer and appear to have a higher body fat then they actually have. Plus, the surgeries to remove the loose skin (out side of abdominal area) tend to not have as good results as must people like. So the long in the short of it is, push though weights. It is difficult to put a time period or exercise amount on what you need to do. A prescription of x minutes for x times a day isn't very helpful because it is important to find the regimen that will get you to your goal. And as you diet and exercise, things change. Being flexible and changing or adapting to those changes and the challenges they present is essential for continued development and progressive meeting of fitness goals.

I've always thought that thinks refers to very young, thin and on the effeminate side. Not just to those who are good looking. For example, a six foot , 300 lb jock with a beard would not be considered a twink, no matter how young or good looking he is. Nor would a broody punk rocker/skinhead/goth type be thought of as a twnk. Not that there are specific rules and regulations, but that is my basic understanding of the term : light and frothy with a twinkle in the step.

I would say start out with bodyweight squats just to get the balance. If you think you've got it, try it with a bar across your back, no weight. When that's easy (and it usually is), try a little weight. Not a huge honking amount because it will hurt immeasurably, and if you've got shoulder injuries anywhere, they will not be happy with you right now.
Based on your question, I assume it's the first time doing it, so keep it under 50 lbs until you are sure of your form. Get help from someone who knows about this stuff so they can correct your form. If they are worth their sodium, they'll offer advice and stuff. Don't argue or explain, just listen and do what they tell you. And go from there. Good luck.

Yes love menofengland...hot guy overload! I can't even get through the entire blog there's so many and loads of pictures are added each day. Let's just go ahead and get this out there, I'm one of those new years resolution people.

Yeah, you know them. I bet they come and go from this site like crazy. I'm going to do everything possible to not be one of them. I am tired of feeling like the average American that sits his ass in a chair, eats, and goes home and does the same thing. Everyday, slowly watching themself grow outwards and eating more because they are unhappy... because they eat too much and do nothing in the first place.

I have a gym membership now and I am trying to gather together as many resources and I can -- anything is helpful.
