Meh, I wouldn't say a *million*, but definitely a LOT! I've got some hard weeks ahead, but I'm happy about it. New adventures. This year, for me, is about getting rid of all the old things that are no longer good to keep, or are not good for me. This includes bad friendships, old clothes, broken things, and poor habits that have kept me from growing up. But that's another story.
What is your strength looking like? Bodyweight can fluctuate but strength (unless you're doing it wrong) typically does not. Are you being consistent with measurements and diet? Remind us what your goal is so we can help solve your difficulty.

Well I got my dumbbells up to 35 lbs and still have control over the weights. Im trying to do the slow and steady lifting method... probably will up my weight again in two more weeks... ive been doing so much of the same workout routine I think I should do two weeks of cardio and abs and avoid weights other than leg day just to let my left arm heal because it's ****ing annoying... I messed it up a week ago and its still hurting. But my goal is to increase body weight and my goal for the year is to hit 200 lbs which totally is a pipe dream. but thats less than 3 lbs a month for the next 10... but my goal is to put on muscle to about 200 lbs again... i managed putting on 15 - 20 lbs last year...
but currently im benching 140 - I am afraid to bench by myself and I don't have a gym partner that often.. But I'm dragging my one friend with me starting this week... he's let himself GOOOOOO. he went from being about 140-150 and he might be pushing 190 and hes 5'6 I think...
I am doing 150 or 170 lb chest flies depending on how much energy I have...
150 lbs lat pulldowns and 130 - 150 lbs rows... SO my strength is great no problems there at all... not up to body weight squats yet... still doing 140 there too... I dont squat much either.. but i hate leg days... lol.
I haven't actually done proper measurements... with someone else holding the measuring tape... ive done them myself to the best of my abilities... I mean I have a decent body... I get on cam in the manhunt chat rooms frequently lol (kind of nice to have a body that guys like to look at)Just started my fitness blog. Check it out :D tumblr - search eyroasi :)

I'm not seeing any type of structure in the exercises and working weights listed in your post, and my guess is your progress stalled due to you "winging" it. You may do better with a workout plan with routines that hit all the major muscle groups, has programmed intensities (set/reps) and load prescriptions, and allows you to compare how well you're doing from one week to the next.
There are plenty of templates to choose from if you wish to personalize, from 3-day full body to splits like upper/lower and push/pull/legs. Sample routines can be found in articles like this, and in-depth programs are located in the main site's Mass Gain section.
There's no mention of diet, but do you have an idea whether you're consistently eating at a surplus? If not, a few stickies in the Nutrition section can help you ballpark a caloric range.Hums the theme to Superman during planks and LYTPs. Now that you've read this, you will too.

Yeah I have been trying to hit all my nutrition stuff. That is a bitch though with my current income. But on gym days I have been trying to get about 3000 calories and 220-250 grams of protein. Its just a pain. I need to get back on track on tracking my food intake. Eating is the worst part of my working out honestly and the hardest part for me.
My actual routines are decent actually. I modified a workout from bodyspace a bit to fit my personal goals and with the gym being so packed I have been having to improvise because I dont want to wait to do dumbbell workouts so I just do extra machine workouts.
I start every workout at the gym with an ab workout
3 sets 15 reps flat leg raises
3 sets 15 reps decline crunches
3 sets 15 reps oblique crunches
3 or 4 sets of hanging leg raises
6 sets of 15 reps weighted torso rotation - 50 lbs
(and on days that I dont have **** to do ill add some planks and plank crunches)
arms - (i mix in shoulders when i do arms with dumbbells because I like dumbbell workouts)
warm up stretching
3 sets of 15 reps side lat raises - 15 lbs - i do a set of side then a set of front
3 sets of 15 reps front lat raises - 15 lbs
3 sets of 15 reps of upright rows - 20 lbs or 25 lbs - i dont do the max weight for this yet because i just started doing these 2 or 3 weeks ago
for biceps i do
hammer curl - 30 or 35 lbs depending on energy levels - im fluctuating between the two weights right now. almost ready to up because Im failing them but I am having form issues and im trying to keep my form
but 3 or 4 sets of 15 reps all my stuff is 15 reps just save time or at least an attempt at 15
cross body hammer curls - 4 sets - 35 lbs
alternating or just regular dumbbell curls - 30 or 35 lbs
Tricep kickback 20 lbs - didn't do them last week but I am think I am going to up the weight on them this week - i do 3 sets an arm for these
and thats my free weights
after that I go on to the machine workouts - (as long as the gym isn't uber packed and i dont wanna kill people)
Tricep extentions - 50 or 60 lbs (I think I did a set at 80 last time but form was ****ed not exactly strong enough to do those properly at that weight yet) - 4 sets 15 reps
then they have a machine that is almost like doing preachers but its a bicep curl machine and i dont know what the exact thing is set at but i do about 6-8 sets at 15 reps - I go from 50-60-80-60-80-60-80 on these and keep going to failure just for fun.
after that I go to the cable towers and do
tricep pushdowns 65 lbs - 4 sets
straight bar curls 80 or 100 lbs 4 sets
and if im up for it and can do it I like to throw in 4 sets of cable flies - either 110 or 130 lbs if you count both arms.
But then I either leave or do cardio if I do cardio I hop on the elliptical or arc trainer and do a half hour generally.. I am going to be upping my cardio soon.
so sample arms day workout Its not that bad is it?Just started my fitness blog. Check it out :D tumblr - search eyroasi :)

It seems like a great deal of volume, but it looks like you can handle it. Not going to suggest overtraining because that's a really hard thing to do. I think it *looks* okay but I could be wrong about that.
Personally, I think half an hour of cardio is really plenty. It's good for keeping the weight down, and it's good that you do it. If you're not trying to lose weight, I wouldn't add more time. The thing I like least about the treadmill is that I can't run from my farts. -- Source unknown

Well the only option I have at this point which I am going to start doing since summer is almost upon us is lower my carb intake - cut out the little bit of soda I have been drinking - cut out all extra sugar and up my green vegi intake instead and try not to kill anyone XD I am not a happy man without carbs :P

Well, I've been a lurker for quite some time and truly enjoy the banter on this board. Figured I might as well introduce myself on Page 96 since I missed my chance back on Page 69. So . . . Hello!
I'm trying to be as motivated as I can and hoping for some help from you guys. It's about a month until Phoenix Pride and I certainly would like to lose weight and not be as blubbery as I am now for that event.
That's all for now.I am the only person responsible for making myself fat. I am the only person responsible for making myself un-fat.

First I'm going to post this thread:
Calculating Calories and Macronutrients
A lot of people have great results going by the guidelines in the initial post.
Since you are doing cardio, and want to increase cardio, what's killing your gains is the extra activity and the fact you have competing goals. You're eating to put on muscle, but a quick Harris-Benedict calculation has your consumption close to maintenance (at moderate activity) and then you're exercising to lose weight. You went from 180 lbs. to 175 lbs. so you can tell what method is most at work.
If you want to lose weight for an event, then you can focus on that and then revisit gaining mass later on.
Though I haven't done a bodypart split in ages, the advice I'll offer about your workout is to stick more to free weights and cables. Machines can fix the path of resistance or angle you're able to use a load, and they may be the reason for your arm pains. Barbells, dumbbells, and cables will have you stabilize your body more, but you'll also use your natural patterns of movement. Sometimes machines aren't ergonomic for everybody. Like how typical ellipticals have stride length of 14-18". These are considered short stride lengths for very tall individuals, and they run the risk of developing knee problems when working along that fixed path for extended periods.
Welcome to the thread, and welcome to page 96! I imagine that to be an awkward position, used in situations where people feel trapped. Like how couples sleep long after their bed has gone cold, or as a way to wake up after a night of heavy drinking and not have to see the other person's face.
Good luck with losing weight. With proper planning, diet, and training, you can make a lot of progress in four weeks.Hums the theme to Superman during planks and LYTPs. Now that you've read this, you will too.

Good luck with your goals. I had a note about the food. I dont know where you live but here in NY besides the supermarket we have fruit stands, and their prices are dramatically different for veggies and fruits that dont have any name brands on it and their quality is really good so you can save a few dollars there. Also i suggest getting meats from the actual meat market, I got a bunch of large chicken breasts that he was able to cut in half for me so I got about 8-9 breasts for just about $9 as opposed to going to the supermarket and getting purdue chicken breast packs with like 2 or so pieces in it and if I got 4 packs ended up paying about $12 or so. If you like red meats, the butcher has good deals as well for that. The same goes for fish (getting it from the fish market).

Extraordinarily busy. Playing in a pit orchestra is very hard to do. It's harder when you can't hear the singers on stage so you know where you are in the music. But I'm having fun doing it, and they'll pay me pretty well, so I can't complain much. The drive there is something else, but at least I won't get lost.

So for the first time in about 5 months I went on a successful second date Late night dinner of doom (steak and shake) turned into a drive around crazy areas in akron, then cuddles, then coffee, and more cuddles and a little bit of boot knocking, sleep, more boot knocking, and then a coffee 6 mile walk since it was beautiful today then dinner and departure. And hes good looking yayyyyy... And tenative plans to hang out on Wednesday and we shall see how things go from there... But I really like this guy. Only thing that could become problematic is the age gap. He's a 40 year old nursing student though I have no probs with it.
So how was everyone elses weekend?Just started my fitness blog. Check it out :D tumblr - search eyroasi :)

Nice! I've also been on multiple dates with a guy and we're going out now. That's actually pretty rare for me. I also had a friend visit from Philly and showed him around SF. So overall a good weekend.
This week I am starting to really focus on eating more. I haven't gained any weight in a few weeks. I used to eat about 2800-3000 cals a day, but I guess I gotta bump it up to 3000-3200.

Happy St. Paddy's, everyone! I just read that while excess alcohol consumption after resistance training can significantly decrease strength recovery, one to two drinks for men after a workout is OK. Good to know, because I really want a pint or two of Guinness to go with the corned beef and colcannon at dinner
