Because the colour of the shirt and the tie look gaudy and tacky.

A little harsh but I agree that the shirt color/tie looks a bit gaudy.

Like they care what the 'fit' is.

Terrible logic, I could buy an expensive outfit of ill fitted clothing and still look worse than the guy that bought an outfit from H&M where everything fits him perfectly.

Leaver's Ball is similar to prom I'm guessing? Go with the first one but without a tie. Pretty much exactly how the person is wearing it in the first picture but wear it with black loafers (suede or velvet preferred).

brahs,
How do you find a white dress shirt and wear it business casually?
I recently bought a bunch of Hugo Boss dress shirts and love those, but every white one I want to buy is "see-through", where you can see my skin through the shirt and it looks weird, to me, up close.. I need a good white one to wear under a suit/wear by itself unbuttoned, but the "see-through thing" is something I've noticed in all white dress shirts and it bothers me, but maybe I don't notice it on others..
Am I looking at the wrong type of shirts or what? Should I be looking at casual shirts? anyone want to help me out? Should I buy a Hugo Boss one to wear under a suit and then a more casual one.. or what?

are you looking at linen shirts? because they seem to be see through. try looking at cotton ones.

Well I am not a huge fan in general of that shirt or tie, but together it screams high school to me. I prefer more formal shirt colors and bright colors like that are not really fitting. I can imagine the shirt looking fine in a differnt set up, but that would depend on fit etc. The tie overall is not something I would ever want. The design isnt all that horrible but that blue color should never be a focus point of a tie....never.
You say you got it together so I am assuming you went to a place like JC pennies/Macys, I would try to avoid buying formal wear from these places, although you can as they do have some decent shirt colors, they tend to have this whole layout implying shirts and ties match when a lot of times they dont. A shirt and tie shouldnt always share colors, and when they do it tends to be in cases like this(shirt is not solid, or a very secondary color on the tie):

I am a fan of Charles Tyrwhitt, not just because they usually have great sales on(I got 3 orders of shirt+tie for 40$+s/h, retails at prob close to 160), but they also tend to have great suggested tie/shirt combo. Spend some time messing around and looking at the shirts they have available and the suggested matching, and you should start to understand formal wear color schemes a little more. They do not cover everything as a lo of their stuff is intended for jacket/suit set up, and casual colors can be treated a tad different and be more risky.
Here is a link to their slim fit dress shirts:
http://www.ctshirts.com/men's-shirts...p=83&browse=Y#
They do also have business formal and casual shirts that look great too, going to pick up a few of their casual shirts hen I have expendable income.

It is basically like prom but less formal. And since I missed out on prom, I don't have anything to wear! The dress code is not too specific but anything between smart to smart-casual (not jeans etc though) Personally, I preferred the 2nd option as I felt the 1st option was too business-like.
Also, is it worth the risk buying suits/ blazers online? The pictures are from asos which is only available online and I never seem to find the ones I want at shops.

Honestly, something like this would work really well;

If it's something less formal and you don't feel comfortable than you could definitely do a sports jacket. (I've ordered some things off of Asos, there quality depends on how much you spend, obviously but the fit is generally true to size.)

That jacket with blue or khaki pants would look really nice.

Where do you guys get dress shirts from? Express has so many colors but their or fit isn't the best, are there other sites with such a variety in color in dress shirts but also as cheap as Express'?
