I plan on cutting since Summer is coming up, and I won't be able to do much anyways. Should I go into the gym and do VERY light work with machines and keep away from my injury?
I'm a bit afraid that my decrease in calories will signal my body to lose lean body mass due to it not being worked.

cuttings the worse thing you can do with a broke bone bud, your body needs maintnance calories to recover, but you might get away with a light cut may 250 cal below maintnance thats still half a pound a week, but i dont recomend cutting at all bud if you want a speedy recovery.
my moms a 30 year experinced nurse thats where i got my info, i know shes no doctor but shes worked around plenty of them and has learned alot over the years good luck bud

i was in this same exact situation and there's basically no exercises you can do because ALL exercises involve rib movements!!!
when i was in your situation, i decided to drastically lower my calories
i completely lost all my muscle mass and looked pretty skinny!
but the gains came back in about 2-3 months timeDrug free is the way to be (srs)
