See anything wrong with this power rack?
think i am just going to bite the bullet on this power rack. my needs are pretty basic and a power rack is the safest way to go. comes to $398 to my door. see anything wrong with this rack? aside from the short height it looks legit, comes with extra lifts so can overhead press outside - no big deal to me.
max. is 700 on this bench btw, which is plenty for me.
i know there are other cheaper racks(powerline) but i live in canada and kind of don't want to lug a rack across the border. i am already ordering my bench from the u.s. so have this rack shipped direct to my door is more convenient.

Home gym 'til I die.
It looks ok to me. Nice basic design and includes a pullup bar. Go for it I say.
....but...are there no second hand ones on ebay/craigslist that will be heavier duty, for less money?

honestly no. there are a couple for 500-600 i have seen but this is cheaper and brand new so i think i'd rather opt for that. if something was available used in the 200-300 range i'd take that but i have not seen anything.
i was honestly just going to get a regular squat stand/rack but safety is an issue and this cage is basic but it seems to be sufficient.

Get what you need to train now and then take your time. With patience, CL will produce.....I've built my whole gym thru CL at a fraction of retail in about 2 years.....

Still lifting
The only thing that jumps out at me is 1) you've already identified the low height which would prevent overhead presses, and 2) the bottom holes don't go very low, which may limit things like rack pulls and, maybe, shrugs.

that is true. my current set up sucks but i bought it years ago used for dirt cheap, i got my money ten fold out of it and ill probably just junk it now.
my needs as of now are minimal and this rack seems good enough and most importantly it has the safety spotters so i can properly train alone.

the height of this rack is 79" and the other model i was considering was the entry level powerline and that one is 82" in height so its really only a 3" difference. i dont mind overhead pressing outside the rack if need be, having the extra lifts is nice too, with the powerline i'd have to buy extras @ $60-70.
the holes seem to go as low on the powerline model as well so it seems on par there. here is a link to the powerline, check it out;

I would love to know how much it weighs because that (for me at least) is usually a pretty good measure of the quality of the product. The safeties look awfully thin.
I'm always advocating patience and Craigs but if this is something you need now, then for this price, its not half bad.
Nice important piece for the budget minded.

gave them a call and the guy said approx 63kg so roughly 138lbs
also here is another pic of it(diff angle) same rack but w/lat attachment. it actually does come with a chin up bar also.

also they sell the rack on ebay as well so i went thru the sellers feedback located 2 other guys who bought the rack and asked them how they like it/how it is holding up. both guys said aside from having to overhead press outside it is perfect and has held up great. one guy said he squats 400lbs easily with no probs in it. seems legit and what im looking for.
i am going to try and locate a bench on craigs tho to save a few bucks before i bite on a new one.

I don't know how much weight you throw around but you might want to plan on bolting that thing to the ground. I honestly was hoping it would weigh closer to 200lbs.

seems on par with most entry level racks. the powerline ppr200x weigh 136lbs. right now i am only squatting about 250 as well.
haha besides im a cheap fugger if i dont get this ill prob cheap out and get a reg rack with no safeties lol.

It looks like the rear posts and crossmember are flush...so that could be an issue for benching depending on your bench.

dumb question but why would it pose a problem?
i was probably to go with this powerline bench.

I had a weider rack like this once and it was ok for flat bench, but I couldn't use it for incline with my bench.

The bench won't go back far enough, especially in the incline position without hittin the floor crossmember. The bench MAY be able to sit over the crossmember and still be in the right position.....just have to see.....

I would think that type I leg design on a bench would be your best bet... It only limits you a few inches...
