Misc. I'm a explosive detector military working dog handler (MWD). Was on deployment, my dog Aio (pronounced eye-oh, play on All In Order when we mark kennel check sheets) freezes up then starts stumbling like he is drunk, looks at me then puts his head down and wont respond to any commands.

brb call vet at a different base.
brb vet does xrays and ultrasound
brb dog has fluid in abdomen
brb medevac'd to ramstein germanybrb rushed from plane straight to MWD center europe
brb dog is acting fine happy playful like he always is
brb vet says he thinks dog will be ok
brb another ultrasound see abnormalities

"SSgt Smoked we're gonna do exploratory surgery, but i think Aio will be fine." I cant stand to see my boy opened up on a table and opt not to watch. vet comes in hour later, "he has cancer on his liver, spleen, kidneys, and a tumor, I'm sorry SSgt but the humane thing to do is euthanasia." fuken MWD's too stoic for their own good, didnt show any signs he was in pain.

Stunned, say i understand. Ask if i want to say goodbye, don't want to see my dog opened up and say no, afraid ill break down in the operating room. i want to remember the happy friend i loved. vet starts gibber jabbering, i start to tear up and walk away then break down by myself in another room.

now im stuck in germany until they cremate him and i can take him home. 6 days alone in my hotel room looking at his harness, choke chain, collar and leash i bought him years ago. cried randomly throughout the day.

that is all.

Rest in Peace my friend, Aio J374, I'll always love you and miss you more than anything.

This is my third base and every single one had its pros and cons.
Cannons is not as bad as people make it.

Fuuuu, don't get me started on the wind in MoHo, eff that 20-30 mph average wind speed. Also, if you can't have fun at any base in the world then you're doing it wrong. Most people hated Mtn Home, but I've lost more memories than I remember from there. Place was a blast and the people were fun to party with.

I used to work with a guy with a partial denture. Although he went through basic many more moons ago and things may have changed but he's still in with them. You should be alright Jeff.

I'm trying not to think about it. I honestly truly believe I made it this year and so I'm trying to keep the anxiety at a controllable level. At least I'm deploying soon and that will keep my mind busy for the next month and a half.

SMSgt is a tough stripe to make as well. We had 1 selectee in my AFSC this year (7% selection rate). And he cross-trained before the results came out. So my career field promoted zero people to SMSgt this year.

The secret to studying the PDG: Carry it everywhere with you. Instead of screwing off on your iPhone waiting for whatever (doc appointment, CC call, MPS, shiftchange, etc.), read the PDG. Worked well for me.

Just to add to that, if you do screw around on your phone (which 99% of airman these days do) drop the money on PDG Advisor. You can log on from anywhere, including your phone, and study.

read the PDG. Worked well for me.

I did this, over and over. I would high light stuff that I was not too comfortable with or needed more reviewing. Then as I kept on reading I would highlight more with a different color. As I kept on going I was pretty much just reading the highlighted stuff that had been hit a few times. I already knew everything else, so it helped me really focus on the stuff I didn't. I felt very strong about this PDG test, I'm guessing at least an 80+
