Depends on your personal strengths, the practice test isn't even half of a real ASVAB.

I was hoping this would be the case for me, but got the exact opposite result. ASVAB for Dummies proved to be a waste of $29.99, unless I retake the test and it has more similar material to the book. I studied for two weeks and it didn't help me at all which makes me wonder how anyone studies for an aptitude test in the first place. I might have memorized 100 different words, retaught myself how to pronounce words, stems, prefix, etc. and it didn't do me any good for the Word Knowledge subtest.

My study guide had a dozens of questions regarding astronomy, the human body, Earth science, etc, but nothing of that nature was on the test. I obviously don't expect the test to have the same questions as the book, but what good does it do for me to memorize that Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system if it isn't going to be on the test?

It seems like MK, AR, and PC is the only things you can sharpen up on.
