Actually I'm the one recruit who the MSGT has not seen my "profile" yet so he says since I rarely stop by or email them.
My recruiter who signed me up is the coolest dude I've met and were both from the same city and I'll be sending him some cool pics and souvenirs if I go anywhere since he told me to lol.
I have the best recruiter a person could ask for!Making YouTube videos in Miami

You are pretty much disqual'd from most, if not all electronics, aircrew, specops jobs. So that leaves all the office jobs and some mx jobs. Start going through the list of AFSCs to see what you're interested in. Comm is an option, as well as intel (with the exception of imagery/targeteer, 1n1x1a/b). You also have personnelist, paralegal, chaplains assistant. Loads of jobs available, but whether or not you'll actually be interested in them is up to you. You should definitely research what is out there so you are prepared to talk to your recruiter.
As for the mom thing. Tell her she should be proud of your decision to serve and stop letting her emotions get to her. I've been in 10 years, deployed 4 times and have yet to be in a serious, life threatening situation.

Are pilot spots full time or part time or both?
Thanks!

It will vary state to state, but there are some states that provide full tuition assistance to college students. Some through a bachelors, others up to a masters. No TA program I am aware of will pay for PhD.
Some states will only pay a % of your tuition and some won't assist at all. Your best bet is to talk to a recruiter. There are active and part time slots for all jobs in the guard, just depends on which base you're at and the mission you're supporting.3D072 - Cyber Systems Operations

Do a lot of you guys have earlier family members who were/are in the military? It seems like most people who are in have had a dad, uncle, grandparent etc who served.
There isn't anyone in my family who has been in the military. feels weird possiblry being the first.**Sets the thermostat in my room to 69 so they know crew**

I have a grandfather who was in the army for a couple of years and his cousin, who i guess would be considered my...2nd cousin or something, just retired after serving over 20 years. He lives down here in tx and was a medic like i am.
My mom behaved the same way when i told her I'm joining. Even got angry with me at one point lulz. Fast forward a few months and now every time i talk to my mom she tells me how proud she is that i joined.Last edited by Yero91; 09-14-2013 at 06:29 AM.

Grandfather was in the navy for 20, no one else, so I know this feel. Better than this kid who came to the unit.. as soon as he found out he was coming to us he told his mom who is a retired E-8. A staff at my shop picked up the phone call from a "Retired Senior Master Sergeant Rico" asking if there was anything her son would need. He's been in the unit for 2 years, and people STILL give him crap about it. It's a good feeling knowing that you made yourself completely.

That feel when no orders... again. I've mirrored equal plus for the past year(3 years TOS), and nothing.
Another dude was on station for a year and half.. we both put in for RMS.. he's currently out processing. Systems flawed, kinda demotivating tbh.Soda free/Pork free

A discharge board is no joke. I have never seen a discharge board for a first time mistake. That is why we always handle the small stuff at lowest levels or court martials for more severe. Even if it was something bigger like a DUI or something similar, it's still not handled at a discharge board.
For them to set this up it would be one occurrence that is very bad or a long term negative history.
With that being said, I would have given the same response as Spite.
Edit: I hate to admit it, but it's no longer a one mistake Air Force. I don't like that because I am a firm believer in it and it's ability to turn people around.★cVc★
