our gyms are maintained by the squadrons... we pay for the equipment and upkeep, the best part about it is its 24/7 and usually at night no one is there, not to mention on the weekends its not packed and open past 5. granted they are small, about the size of a large bedroom, but you have most of the equipment you need in there anyways. the only crappy thing is the gym is far from the dorms, its on the other side of the base near the flightline ( depo base, with guard/active unit)
our aircrew have their own gym i believe, may be wrong though, they prob just use the amxs gym since the buildings are literally 50 feet from each other
pretty much every mx sqd has its own gym... im sure they do, some guys in my shop are from ramstein and if i remember right they had their own gym..

You've just got to want it. Sometimes you've gotta double up and hit 2 a days when you actually have time. Other days it means taking some pw and hitting the gym after a 24 hour day. Or skipping out on drinking for the night so you can get up early and lift
Hardest part is eating right. Turning down dinner and drinks with the crew sucks.

I don't think you have what it takes.
inb4 you wash out to TACP
It's not bad, definitely crowded. Heard rumors they might be building a new one soon, that base has gone through a lot of changes the last couple years with a new hospital and BX and gas station, so I wouldn't doubt if they're planning to put up a new gym.
Is your AFSC on the list for cutbacks? Why not do the Enlisted to Medical officer program? ANCP or whatever it's called and get paid to go to school, even though that's nursing, you could continue education as an O to get the physicians assistant degree.3D072 - Cyber Systems Operations

got any brahs out in Kuwait? Some retard loadmasters got Q3'd, so now I'm shipping out a month early to pick up the 2nd half of his deployment+mine. Keeping in mind it is still only a 3 month deployment, but the reasoning behind me getting the extra month pisses me off.

Yeah the one right now is small but it has enough equipment. If you go from 4pm-8pm it's pretty much too packed to do anything, especially in the beginning of the week. The new gym is supposed to open in October, and that's a pretty solid date for now. It's pretty big.
No idea about amxs, I'm a nonner.

What do you guys think of this Developmental Special Duty initiative that's about to start up?
For unawares:
The Air Force has identified 10 Special Duties as Enlisted Developmental Positions due to their unique leadership roles and their responsibility to mentor and mold young Airmen. To ensure the highest quality Airmen are assigned to these positions, the Air Force has implemented a nomination process. For these reasons, individuals selected must be the best of the best in the Air Force and need to be an ambassador and role model for Air Force values and disciplines. Developmental special duties are temporary in nature and are performed by Airmen anywhere from two to four years after demonstrating excellence in their core duty for the Air Force."T" prefix – Technical Training Instructor in core Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) (Note: Grade: E4 thru E8)
8A100 – Career assistance advisor (CAA) (Note: Grade: E7/E8; SNCOA required)
8B000 – Military Training Instructor (MTI) (Note: Grade: E6/E7)
8B100 – Military Training Leader (MTL) (Note: Grade: E5 thru E8; SNCOA highly desired)
8B200 – USAFA Military Training (AMT) (Note: Grade: E6/E7; NCOA highly desired)
8C000 – Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) NCO (Note: Grade: E7/E8)
8F000 – First Sergeant (Note: Entry Grade: E7)
8G000 – USAF Honor Guard (NCO positions only) (Note: All Grades/Min height for males is 5’10” / females is 5’8”)
8R000 – Recruiter (Note: Grade: E4 thru E7)
8T000 – Professional Military Education (PME) Instructor (Note: Grade: E4 thru E8)
So I'm assuming commanders wouldn't nominate anyone that didn't want to be (though that's not how the program is explained on MyPers), but theoretically you could be nominated for MTI, MTL or PME instructor against your will. Then there's this:
Airmen who fail to complete and submit the application/required documents within 45 days or who fail to communicate delays outside of their control with the OPR will require completion of AF Form 964, PCS, TDY, Deployments, or Training Declination Statement. AF Form 964 renders Airman ineligible for promotion, assignment, reenlistment/extension(s) and subject to separation upon his/her DOS or sooner under Force Management Programs.
Tell me how that makes our Air Force better?
I'm just saying, I'm somewhat interested in becoming a recruiter in order to get close to home for a few years, but if I didn't get selected for Recruiter I could be selected for something I didn't want to do, which is pretty much any other special duty listed above.
Cliffs:
Someone important decided it would be a good idea to nominate people against their will
Could be given ultimatum to take special duty or get out
Brb losing great NCOs because they don't want to be MTIs/MTLs

There is quite a few E-6+ rqrmnts on there...so, remember the early retirement option is still out there as well. Could be an extra "persuasion" of sorts to look that direction too. Just throwing it out there.
