Disagree. It doesn't have to do with when the text is sent, but rather the contents of it. If you tried to compliment her, or ask her a question or start a convo then it seems desperate because you are sort of relying on her response. But if you just make a simple statement like saying you enjoyed it, it's not desperate or needy at all. It's just a statement. Doesn't even require a response.

IMO he could text her the minute he leaves and it wouldnt matter as long as its the right message

You really shouldn't care what she thinks of you. If she thinks wrong her problem. You're not looking for this person's acceptance as if they're the only person in this whole wide world who will accept you. You're looking to get to know someone and possibly more. If they aren't interested and ignoring you then next. If they aren't interested but not ignoring you figure out what the problem is and either next them or wait.

Seriously, there never is a "right" time to message someone. They either respond and recirpricorate or don't. Either way, life moves on.
