Been considering doing Keto when I cut at the end of the year and been doing some research on it. Anyway I kept coming across posts/articles about Keto, but I also saw it was being called Atkins and/or being a part of the Atkins diet.
How is it actually any different to Atkins? I normally can't stand fad diets like Atkins, yet plenty of people swear by Keto on this site so I'm not sure.
Can someone explain how they're different?

Also, the macros for Atkins and Keto are different. I believe that Atkins and Keto have the same macros for the first week - Atkins' Induction Phase. During the following weeks, though, Atkins allows for carbs to be slowly increased.
From their website: "Once you’ve achieved your goal weight in Pre-Maintenance, but before you move to Phase 3, Lifetime Maintenance, you need to find your Atkins Carbohydrate Equilibrium (ACE). In contrast to your Carbohydrate Level for Losing (CLL), which relates to weight loss, your ACE is the number of grams of Net Carbs you can eat each day, while neither losing nor gaining weight. Many people wind up with an ACE of 65 to 100 grams of Net Carbs, but some people have a considerably lower ACE and a very few people an even higher one."
So while Ketoers have 5% carbs (or under 30 or so net carbs), Atkins followers can potentially have a much higher carb intake.Last edited by littlebluej; 04-08-2012 at 06:46 PM.
