Ask About Islam 5
*** There is no one free of all need, of whom all else are in absolute need, but God ***

I have a fair few Muslim friends.
What are your thoughts on Muslims drinking alcohol and partaking in other sinful activities (Sex prior to marriage)?
They are ultimately really really good people though and have good hearts and intentions.
Will they go to hell according to the qur'an without being judged on their good deeds?
I guess what i am saying is,
If they drink and smoke weed but are good people and regularly try helping people, will they be sent to hell for not completely following the qur'an even though they do try to stay true to it.Last edited by JoinDate510BC; 04-08-2012 at 11:52 AM.

Everyone will regret their sins, sooner or later. The fortunate ones are those who regret them and repent for them sooner (before they die) than later.
Drinking alcohol and fornication are major sins, and even Muslims who don't repent for those major sins can enter Hell. Even worse, Muslims who tend to engage in those major sins rarely fulfill their religious duties such as prayer and fasting, which compounds the problem.

Yes, but the true believer should have profound spiritual experiences every day during prayer. It's all relative. You might talk to someone who claims that after 20 years in a certain belief system they experienced a single glimpse of "nirvana" or "enlightenment" but what if you could experience this several times a day? That is the goal of the Islamic spiritual path.

Back when this thread first started, the R&P was a lot more distracted and less knowledgeable about Islam. The situation has improved immensely since then. When the thread first came out, there were many duplicates and failures, and I was neg trained deep red. But thanks to the pioneer mods of the R&P they cleaned this place up of trolls and allowed civil discussions to take place.
This used to take up a lot more of my time, but as you know life just gets more busy.

Serious question:
Are Jinni (Ginni - not sure) good or evil? Both?
Also a more broader religious question, is Christianity the only religion that frowns upon demons? What is Islam's take?"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."

Salam SK, i know that when your in the bathroom you are not supposed to face the qiblah if you are naked, but how is that possible when a bathroom is a 360 degree space. I mean, you can avoid facing it for long periods of time but your bound to face it one way or another.

Salamu Alakoum
Is there a commentary for this hadith?
“The person who severs the bond of kinship will not enter paradise”
Sahih Al Bukhari Vol. 8, Book 78, No. 5984
A brother is having hard time with it, and his Imaan is being hurt by it i tried explaining but he wants a commentary for it. Wondering if there is even one.

Do you mean what are the limitations on maintaining one's blood ties? Basically, one should remain in close contact with one's relatives as long as that doesn't involve any haram activities (or serious abuse). We can discuss more if there are specific examples.

That refers to not facing the Qiblah in open space where there are no barriers.

We believe that anyone who claims to have received information from God after the Prophet (pbuh) is a liar. The Prophet (pbuh) was clear, in very literal terms, that noone would claim to receive information from God after him except that they were one of a few dozen liars, the last of whom would be the anti-christ.

"Demons" in Islam are called "Jinn". Jinn, like humans, can be good or evil, and they can be Muslims or they can be misguided and follow various other sects and religions. Many Jinn actually initiated false religions among humans by pretending to be "gods" i.e. many polytheistic religions are actually based on, and depict, Jinn.
Islam frowns upon communicating with Jinn because one cannot know with whom one is speaking, and one is liable to be possessed by a Jinn. It is difficult to individually cure that once it happens.
Jinn:

This conflicts with a belief in Islam though. The Mahdi is supposed to come alongside Isa at one stage, how can The Mahdi and Isa return if you believe anyone who claims to have recieved information from God after Muhammad(pbuh) is a liar.
Also according to the Bible, It is impossible that Baha'u'llah is a false prophet. 'My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.' - Ezekiel 13:9
If you do a tiny bit of research you will definatly see that Baha'u'llah is listed in the records of the house of Israel, entered the land of Israel, and belonged to the council of the people.

SK, Is it true that Islam is against nomads or makes fun of people who don't live in cities? Are there any quotes or sayings about living in cities vs living in encampments like the Bedouins did?
-
04-10-2012, 10:25 AM #27
Neither the Mahdi (may God be pleased with him) nor Jesus (pbuh) receive revelations from God when they arrive. So there is no conflict at all. They both practice Islam exactly as the Prophet (pbuh) did.
http://www.inter-islam.org/faith/Majorsigns.html
http://www.jesuswillreturn.com/
We also don't believe the Bible is completely reliable, so there is no pre-condition that anyone who lies will immediately be killed. There are plenty of liars today who claim to speak on behalf of God and are perfectly fine. Baha'ullah was simply one of many such liars.*** There is no one free of all need, of whom all else are in absolute need, but God ***

Yeah, there are many liars and I agree with you, but an awnser saying that the 'Bible is wrong' in a verse that is very direct and can't be interpreted in any other way is simply just being ignorant. Also if Islam is the perfect religion forever how come there are different sects of Islam, eg Shia and Sunni, which one is correct? You could say Sunni and another muslim would say Shia. If the religion was so perfect for all times shouldn't there only be one Islam? Under the rule of Islam how can the whole world be united if there are different sects and muslims are disagreeing with eachother?
-
04-10-2012, 09:16 PM #30
We don't believe the Bible is entirely reliable, not because of just one verse, but because of the way the entire set of gospels were compiled into the New Testament. It doesn't matter how you want to interpret a quote in the Bible if there's no reason to believe it was uttered by Jesus (pbuh) or another Prophet (pbuh).
http://individual.utoronto.ca/fantas...ompilation.pdf
Also, Islam is the correct religion in spite of the number of false-claimants and sects. The Prophet (pbuh) himself said there would be 73 sects in Islam, all of them false except one, and taught us how to identify it. So it's an inevitable part of human nature that liars emerge through history and people split up into schisms. People can be united upon the truth regardless of how many impostors there are.

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...postcount=3439
Plus I think we've had all these conversations before. There are plenty of sects within Bahaism as well. That in itself is not the reason why Bahaism is wrong.

So overall, you are approaching the question of religious truth from the branches as opposed to the roots. You should start from the beginning and ask yourself fundamental questions:
