You should have seen this table. Cables all over the ****ing place, just no one giving a fawk and just looked like scattered sht.
I try to do a "big" project every day. I think next time I'm gonna clean out our "wreck" locker where we keep all of our kitty litter and absorbant for wrecks.

When I go to other stations that I don't go to often then I don't do things that are that extreme. It isn't my house and don't wanna mess up what they have going.
Like I know people who paint axes on the regular even if they haven't been used which is stupid imo.
And yes I have OCD. I can't sit down long before wanting to do something. It was just one of those days where I started it and couldn't stop till it was all perfect.Leo/Military Supporter. Bustin my ass to save yours!!!!!!

Im the same way. Ive almost run out of projects to do at my station. I get bert stared when my LT walks in and im detailing the inside of a toolbox.
Started doing driver/operator training too. Really basic stuff right now (calculations, positioning for hydrants, learning how to not be mindfukked that my front tires are behind me). Its fun as hell so far. Cant wait to start getting more in depth with this stuff.

I'm kind of hoping we get a chance to go out of service so I can play with sht on our engine. I'll probably pump a million gallons thru it before I'm happy with what I've learned.
Yeah, I drove again yesterday and will be drving again next shift. I'll tell you what, its a lot different driving that engine code 3 when you have to take the jack brake off because of the rain lol. Nice job. I think me and you would get along really well in the same firehouse.
Didn't Chicago drop the CPAT in favor of a even more easier physical ability exam for the c unts and vaggies who whine/complained about the CPAT? LOLLERS the CPAT is approved by the C unts In The Fire Service or something like that. Even that is too much?
dat dere rig check and company pride. Does Chicago truckies still bring an axe to every job with them to the roof? Is it a pickhead or flat?

This hottie filed a lawsuit and won in 1984 against the FDNY(she's a trained lawyer!). Look it up. Now she is a heroine. Rumor has it she "passed" the physical behind closed doors. Yes the New York City Fire Department discriminated against vaggies because the physical exam was too hard!! LOL what a joke.

thats fcked up. what if it ends up being a cpr or you need an extra person to lift. "uh driver on tac 2 can you come help us please" why not just walk in with everyone else? Probly not gonna do anything most of the time but thats a shtty attitude to put out by just sitting in the engine. if you wanna get paid to simply drive pple around then go drive a taxi or a school bus

Chicago guys bring a pick head to the roof. That was one of the weirdest things I had to get used to getting on my department from what I was used to seeing with my uncle.... Everyone on my dept prefers a flat head or a maul to the roof....call me old school? But ill take a pick head any day of the week. Also Chicago guys don't use an scba when going to the roof.
And yes they did have an easier physical. Word from my uncle and a few others is chicago will be implementing the cpat this next coming testing process. You will need it to apply. Finally, one small step in the right direction....i rep back

Lets be realistic brah, the hiring process alone is one giant rage! Anyone will sue over anything. Saw one of the Chicago candidates that sued over the test being "unfair" that they just hired, at the ER the other day. Seemed extremely unmotivated and lazy. Be happy man. When I say hey how's it going dont just look at me like I'm speaking another language. Be happy to get on that rig and push out the door, because there are thousands of others who'd give a nut to take your place.....

Yea our drivers go in with us. But some cities the driver stays with the truck always because that is what they are responable for everything on that truck.
As for phyiscals. Some here like doing the combat test which I have never done.
But one of the hardest ones in country is done by West Metro Fire Rescue. I would post it but I am on the phone posting right now. Its either on there site or on youtube. It is time scored. Like a time of 530 is a 100percent cent.

It's standard here for the driver to stay with the rig unless we know that we are gonna need extra hands. They come in on CPRs and stuff like that, but otherwise they hang back and get the stretcher to the door once the medics arrive. They also stay back in case we decide that we need something else from the ambo, we can just radio out for him to bring a stair chair or whatever it may be.

Subbed
FD in my area is hiring I applied after some volunteers I work with recommended it. I have zero expierence but went for it anyways.
How can I get expierence? The local volunteer station down the road closed due to budget cuts. Im planning on doing the Emt course at the local community college this fall, and working towards paramedic.
How long would it take to make a liveable wage ($17+) on this career path.
Thanks for any insight, brahs.*Misc Fisherman Crew*
