Holy fuk.. it's so creepy to listen and see what they had been through before they eventually crashed. The fact it's Japanese alone makes it creepy.
I actually got chills at the end of the vid where you can hear them crash.. cot damn. Props to the pilots for keeping it stable for such a long time.

So, 4 peeps survived, but apparently more initially survived but died because the Japanese rescue folks decided to wait overnight to start doing anything... even though the US Airforce or something got to the wreck almost immediately and offered to help, but were rejected and told to stay away.

Japan Air Lines B-747 Crashes into Mt. Osutaka 520 Died
August 12, 1985, a Japan Airlines B-747 flight 123 departed and climbed to 24,000 feet when the aircraft suffered an aft pressure bulkhead failure. At which point the B-747 began having control difficulties.
The aircraft decended crashing into Mount Osutaka, near Ueno Village, Japan. Of the 524 on board 520 died. The bulkhead failure was related to in proper repare of the bulkhead after a tail strike in 1978.

As an airline pilot I have massive respect for these pilots that did a great job at keeping control for such long time, alltough i haven't gotten into the actual official report from what I can hear with full loss of hydraulic power (apperantly because the rudder blew off) your pretty screwed. Yes the RAM air turbine can give you minimal instruments and electrical control but with the plane damaged the way it was they had a near impossible job.
There have been cases where planes were landed on just throttle after full loss of controll surfaces.
Btw the pull up pull up is the GPWS (Ground proximity warning system)Dont have time to sit around f5'ing 99% of the time.
