Finally finished up my olympic platform. I was originally just going to make it 4'x8' due to space constraints, but I ended up expanding it to 6'x8' for more room for split jerks. The bottom layer is made of 2x3's around the outside, and plenty of 2x3's and 2x4's underneath pretty much anywhere I would drop the weights. The middle layer is 3 layers of 7/16" OSB, each cut a different way. The center section is a 4'x6' sheet of poplar plywood, and the sides are a 4'x6' stall mat cut in half. I was originally going to do the center section in a natural finish stain, but decided that painting it would be easier and more durable. I also happened to have some leftover stain from painting the deck at my inlaws. It was a long project, prolonged mostly due to poor planning and lack of resources and time, but in the end I'm happy with how it came out.

Started up on a monkey chin bar project today. Was gonna finish this weekend but, I forgot to get some important dimensions off of my power rack this morning for the plate that will be bolted to the rack before I went to work (which is where I cut/drill/mill my stuff).

Much more simple than what you guys have been working on and I'm positive it has been done hundreds of times and maybe even posted here. I bought a 4' 1.5" ID piece of PVC and used some really chitty spinlocks I have to make a plate grip apparatus. It is not the right height or width for competitive grip training, but I am just training to get my grip stronger and it will work great. Can load smaller plates outside the collars.

Finished the monkey style chin bar. Few fugly welds here and there thanks to not welding for a couple of months and starting back out on round objects but, overall, quite bullet proof.

Thanks. Got three more things to do before I consider it (temporarily) finished - Horizontal barbell storage, modify my adjustable dumbbell rack, and vertical weight storage stands on each side of the rack for ease of plate loading/unloading on both the rack and platform. Here's a rough sketch of what I have in mind:

Thanks!
Made a Strongman yoke today,
Scrapped the other two I made because well I was a crappy welder then haha.
Going to polish it all up and clear coat it Instead of painting.
Pins are temporary, dont have long enough bolts at the min.
Angled box section cross member feels better then large pipe imo.

I have started with my Power Cage project.
I bought the materials today.
The cage will be made from 76 mm X 76 mm X 3 mm square tubing (that is 3" x 1/8").
You cannot see the brackets I have made to bolt everything together yet as I am not allowed to add images until I have 50 posts. I will use a MIG welder.
One question: the posts will have holes in it to make the safety bars adjustable. How do I treat the inside agains rust. The outside I will paint with DTM (The alternative to Mammerite).
I will also add a Lat pull attachment, with a low pulley as well. It will use the free weight system
The Bench will feature a leg extension feature. I am still thinking about a fly attachment as well. (All with free eight systems)Regards
Johan

I am going to drill them on a drill press. I have a big one, fitter with a sliding attachment. I am using a cutting spray, so the drilling is no problem. I have cut thick material in the past.
I will first mark the intervals. punch the holes and then pilot drill all of them, therafter I refit the pilot drill per hole centre and progress per hole util finnish size. Then I go to the next one. I know it will take a few hours.Regards

Lol, probably more than just a few. Once I knew what I was doing, it took me about 7 hours to drill all the holes on four uprights on a Bridgeport mill. Are you using a drill, or a hole saw? I can't speak for hole saws but, with a drill, the bigger the drill, the slower the rpm. I did 3/4" holes on my rack and kept my rpm around 300.
