Importance of nutrient ratios vs total calories

Is there a significant difference between 40/40/20, or 50/30/20, or even something crazy like 30/20/50

Since meal timing is now debunked, has nutrient ratios been debunked as well? Does it really matter all that much as long as you're eating a wide variety of healthy food?

If you're using ratios to determine macronutrient intake, then you're doing it wrong.

To determine how to set macronutrient intake properly, please see: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=121703981

I wouldn't say debunked as much as shown to be inferior to percentages based on weight.

Macronutrient NeedsOnce you work out calorie needs, you then work out how much of each macronutrient you should aim for. This is one of the areas that is MOST often confused but This should NOT be based on a RATIO of macro intakes. (eg: '30:40:30 or 40:40:20') Your body doesn't CARE what % intake you have. It works based on SUFFICIENT QUANTITY per MASS.
Yup, looks like ratios have been debunked as well. Times have changed very quickly. I assume in another 2-3 years all of this advice will change again. Seems to be how it works. In the mean time, I'll follow whatever best practice is current.

As I noted in your prior thread, it's more than supplement and diet industry nonsense is being shown in it's true light in this forum.

A good read about the macronutrients needed. From what I see it is the total for the day and what your body responds to. Each person is an individual and may require some tweaking to find what works best for you.

    Good luck
