So I hit the big 4-0 later this year. And the biggest thing I feel is great. I can't describe the feeling and I'm wondering if anyone else felt this way turning 40. I know many have problems with it but I honestly have to say I am feeling great. I'm in better shape now that I was in my 20's. I'm also a lot more wiser which I think helps immensely in day to day life and decisions. I have a good job, a happy family and a fantastic beautiful wife. I'm not trying to sound like I'm bragging or anything, just proud of my accomplishments and proud to be healthy and turning 40.
By the way, I love this site. I come here for so much information.

turning 40 in a few weeks. I'm training/dieting hard for it. Figure 40 only comes once. As to how I feel about it? IDK, I'd still rather be 5 again.

Good for you! Sometimes it's all a matter of having the right perspective. When I was 20, I had a broken back, was really sick and underweight. When I was 25, I was sick and struggling to finish my degree. When I was 30, I was still sick, had chronic vertigo and had become obese. I turned 35 a couple of weeks ago and it felt truly awesome. If 40 will be as good or better, I can hardly wait.

^^^^ Right here!!
I don't really remember how I felt when I turned 40, but I can guarantee you that definitely did not dread it, and I was either in the gym or having a rest day in preparation my next workout! There's definitely life after 40, and a good one if you play your cards right!
To me, working out not only helped me build the physique I desired, it was also therapeutic to lift to get rid of the stresses (after a BRUTAL leg day, everything else in life seems like a piece of cake) and that gym time is priceless for me....and ONLY for me!
Happy 40th!

I look at it this way: The basic human body was already evolved to what it is today BEFORE we settled on the 9+1 numeric system. Therefore, this value we give to 30, 40, 50 is an artificial value with no real meaning in how we are set up to age.
Lifestyle, activity level and type, nutrition over a lifetime, occurence of injury or accident or sickness or exposure to harmful substances, and genetics, all working together for or against you until the day you die, are 10,000% more an influence than "30", "40", "50" or "60."Time To Re-Schedule
