Growing up I was always the fat kid and I never could run more than a quarter mile. I started smoking heavily when I was young and just assumed Id never be able to run a mile. A few weeks after I quit smoking I decided I was going to run a mile, and I did though I thought I would die. This time around Ive been much more focused on my cardio. Sunday I ran for the first time outside and off the treadmill I was worried the treadmill training wouldnt carry over and Id fall out of breath after a few minutes like the old days. I jogged a 2 mile trail, and still had some left.
Then last night I got on the treadmill and ran 5 miles. This was something Ive worked towards since I first hit the 1 mile mark. I realize these are not huge events in the scheme of things but they are achievements I am thrilled with and wanted to share. Sunday Im going back to the two mile trail I ran and Im going to go for four.
