BTW - O and O2B plates have no markings on the back. OM plates have a smooth finish and I dont know what that other guy said about them having a grey tone cause my OM and O plates are identical colorwise.

The difference is in the lettering. On the OM's, the lettering is a silver color. On the O series, the lettering is not painted a different color.

found an opportunity at 450 lbs of revolvers at 1.15 lb when I factor in gasoline for the trip. They look to be in good shape by the pics. Worth it?

If you're really wanting revolvers, that's probably fine. I'd pay it if I didn't have any and wanted them, especially since that price includes gas. I think I paid about .90/lb, although maybe a little more because I had to drive to the Cincinnati area (about an hour) to get them. I was fine with that because I really liked them, they're expensive, and they almost never pop up.
Just depends on what you wanted, you know the deal. The used price isn't bad though, if they're in good shape.

Decided it's too expensive for me. I'd pay 75cents / lb max

Skid, I'm right there with ya! Not that I wouldn't jump at some revolvers if they were at the right price, but I'm very happy with my deep dish plates--they just look a little more old school or something.

1 1/4lb plates (hammertone/grey)
Any suggestions on where to get them?
The only option I see is Amazon/weightlifterswarehouse @ $7.95 +$10 shpping...
Now I'm trying not to get too worked-up over a $17.95 purchase but I'm really gonna feel like a shmuck paying $7.18 per pound for ANY type of weights!.. I could get Eleiko bumpers for a better price per lb.

You're talking about 1 1/4 lb plates? Fractional plates get pricey http://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-fr...plates-lbs.php maybe get some 5lb plates along with them if it doesn't increase the shipping.

If you mean ours, I've got some prototypes for sale. I posted on facebook and was going to post something up here, but I wasn't sure if one was allowed to (blatantly) commercialize a post, so I meant to check on that. (If it's not allowed, I'll certainly take down this post). But the prototypes are 6' 2" and the bar diameter is 28mm. The final production run will have a diameter of 1-1/8" which is about 28.5mm. Most everything else will be the same. I've cut the steel for the bars and sleeves and am moving forward with machining.

I also have some demo OBZS-30 and a few OB-60 (chrome) and maybe one or two OBZ-20 (can't recall if they're in black or chrome). The OB-60 and OBZB-20 are the last of the last.

Ivanko's website has a closeout on a few OMC plates, I wanted 2 more 45s but only 35 and 100 were available. I picked up 2 35s. I don't like lifting the 100s
Great price for them.
What is the reason for them being discontinued. My guess is cost of making them is high and the demand low.
Demand was fairly steady but what we found was that we were paying more and more to get good quality chrome. And the quality control became a real burden. A lot of man hours devoted to checking everything. The original were beautiful, decorative chrome, and you have to pick the best castings out of that lot that you're going to chrome.
We made the decision to gradually get out of (most) chrome because you have to carry so much product, that we'd rather focus on fewer style sof plates and just carry more of them. The OMC-35's we have are still very nice examples of those early chrome plates.

Ben seems to have answered the question I believe Olympic Standard Barbell as a moniker existed (for us) up through about 1984 or so. It was also the best colored plate I think we ever made. I never cared, as much, for the lighter shades of grey.

I recently went in with a friend on some O series 1.25's. They are on clearance, and you can only get them as a package of 10. THey come out to $4.50 per plate that way. That does seem expensive, but I bought some Cap 1.25's a couple of years ago from Bigger Faster Stronger. THey were $.99 per plate, but with shipping the cost of 4 plates was about $15. In that context, the O series isn't such a bad deal. Just go in with some friends so that each of you is only paying for what you need.
