I was inspired by "ProteinandIron's" bar holder that he mounted on the top of his power rack. My gym is only about 10' wide so it makes it difficult to get the bars in and out of the rack. I decided to build and install bar holders in the top of my Icarian Power Rack. I found two pieces of heavy rectangular bar in the scrap pile an drilled two holes in each. Measured them out and bent them into a sqare-J shape. Painted them an then went and got some stainless bolts, washers, and nuts.
Measured the rack for center and drilled my holes to match those in the brackets.
Bolted up the brackets and then put the bars on their new perch. Very happy with the results.
Felt good and decided to stencil out the rack with hole numbers......just because I like it like that....
Both projects complete in a little less than 3 hours.....
Thanks ProteinandIron for the inspiration.

That looks great. Thanks for the props, I did mine for the same reasons- shifting a bar around in a tight space like that it is virtually impossible to not brake stuff. I like the bars too.
I like the way you did the numbers. It looks tidy and in time will age nicely with the rack.
Another quality production!My training log:

Looks good
I thought about doing vinyl numbers for my rack then I saw power-lift made them on a strip so I ordered them 35 bucks.
On my first rack I wrote the exercises on each peg they are used for with a sharpiePullups Max reps: 40 reps
Max weighted pullup:
206.2 lbs x 1 rep
165 lbs x 6 reps
135 lbs x 8 reps
100 lbs x 14 reps

Squat: 405 lbs
Deadlift: 505 lbs
Press:225 lbs

I really like the idea with the bar holder, it looks good while being function-able
If I'm not mistaken, I think Skidmarx posted pics of his own rack as well where he did some welding fabrication on his own rack for the same idea of creating some holders on his. It's a pretty cool idea.

Nicely done for sure. I'd like to figure out a solution for my second bar, but there isn't so much clearance on the sides of my rack to weave the bar out of there. Heck there are actual vertical bar holders on my rack, but same clearance issue comes up. Definitely got my thinking with what you've done there. Meager reps your way, sir.

Looks nice. My gym looks like it's the same- 10' wide, single car garage? I'm lucky that I have a sumo rack or I'd have the same problem.
