When it comes to supplements, what to take and how to take them, there has been a lot of "science" over the years as to how to take it. Most of that "science" is hearsay and garbage. Some of it was believed to be true at one time or another, and it was backed by a study regardless of how scientific the study actually was in reality. Bottomline, take it straight, take it in water, in juice, with your protein, whatever.

rofl.... those idiots will also tell you to carb-load while on a cut.
Their physiques combined with their unfounded/idiotic claims are a testament to what you can achieve [without] supplements.

I hope that you are not implying that the Hodgetwins are responsible for the "don't take creatine with water" or the "take creatine with grape juice" myths.... those myths were around long before they came along. The fact is that supplementation has been a learning journey for athletes and scientist alike.

There is a plethora of "bad" advice on YouTube, magazines, etc.. But is it really bad advice? As long as your eating enough, progressively getting stronger, and getting adequate rest your gonna grow. So anything on top of that foundation really doesn't matter. It's not necessary to take creatine with grape juice.... but is taking it with grape juice gonna hurt you? No. It's not necessary to have a protein shake right after your last set... but is having a shake right after your last set gonna hurt you. No. Nutrient timing is not necessary but is following a timed schedule gonna hurt.. no. So who really cares if they said take creatine with grape juice... it doesn't matter. They tell their followers to eat, lift , and sleep... that's a solid foundation.

People say this because of a study done years ago attributing sugar+creatine to increased levels of absorption. What most people don't know is one of the two groups in the study took in crazy amounts of sugar a day with creatine, while the other group did not. The sugar group did have like 50% more creatinine but at what cost?? Anyway more studies have been showing as long as there is an insulin spike while taking creatine, it will get absorbed well enough.

seen this myth before....its complete crap. Think about it, just think where its going. gonna be mixed with all sorts in your stomach, but it'll still get digested. Make sure you get it all out of the glass though, it can have a tendancy to sink to the bottom/ blast some more water in to be sure you get all of it.

Zero carbs is also well enough for creatine absorption for the vast majority of situations. While it is true that ingesting creatine along with carbohydrates, protein, or even D-pinitol may enhance creatine uptake, it doesn’t really make much of a difference unless you are loading creatine. Evidence shows that ingesting creatine with a large amount of glucose (95 g) will enhance creatine uptake. Science has shown that cutting that carb amount in half and adding some protein can also enhance creatine uptake (e.g., ingesting creatine with 50g of carbohydrate + 50 g of protein). So, this may be relevant for someone who is just starting out supplementing with creatine and wants to reach the saturation point as soon as possible.
Some people believe that you need to ingest creatine with juice (grape juice is a favorite myth) or some other sugary drink. However, sugars are not needed for uptake because the creatine transporter is not insulin-dependent, but rather is a sodium-chloride dependent transporter. That being said, large amount of insulinotropic substrate will enhance creatine accumulation by stimulating Na-K ATPase pump activity, but this is only even relevant during loading (if you choose to load).
You should realize that timing of creatine is completely a waste of time, except for a very narrow situation which is limited to someone during a <7 day initial loading period who wants to enhance creatine uptake faster than the traditional loading period due to needed athletic performance in <7 days.
During maintenance phase, it makes no sense to try and enhance creatine uptake.
My take on trying to enhance uptake is this: Who cares? Maybe you can shave a day off and reach saturation a day early? During maintenance, it doesn't seem relevant one bit since you only need 0.03 grams per kg per day to maintain, which in my case, at 180 pounds, is just 2.5 grams of creatine. Since most of the advice given on the bodybuilding forums is to dose at 5 grams per day, most people would be ingesting more than they need anyway, so there seems to be zero benefit to enhancing uptake by the use of carbs (or a mixture of carbs and protein). For what it’s worth, catecholamines, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), insulin, and exercise can all influence the net uptake of creatine into skeletal muscle (as they all affect creatine uptake by the Na+-Cl−-dependent transporter).

in my opinion creatine can be mixed with just about anything to be honest. but i prefer taking caps personally. it's more convenient and mobile especially if you're running around a lot with work, kids, errands. i use AAEFX'S kre-alkalyn caps as my creatine source. i take 2 caps pre workout and 2 caps post workout. and i follow that same regimen on my off days. some people may tell you to only take it once on your off days, but i prefer to follow the motto, if it aint broke dont fix it. so i still take my 2 and 2 on the weekends spread apart throughout the day. but whatever you have man whether it's water, juice or milk, as long as you're getting in that creatine it's fine. although i'd personally use a juice source. but thats just me.

i take it with green tea, the hot water seems to make it mix more easy (and im not aware the temperature effects the creatine in any way) , so no grainy texture that i use to get with mixing it with cold water.
occasionally i have a small teaspoon of honey mixed in as well, as i heard that taking creatine with some sort of simple sugar makes it more effective, dont know if that is BS or not though, i havent really noticed a difference personally☆☆☆υк яєω☆☆☆
