IAJ week 2.
Well, week 1 is in the books. Due to a busy life, not a ton of progress made. I have stayed under 300 all week though, which is a huge accomplishment for me. I also set a new personal record for a 5k, and probably could have done better if my mind hadn't gotten in the way. It is all progress though. I will be attempting my second 10k this coming weekend. I am a little nervous about this one. 10k's really take me out of my comfort zone. I did pretty well on my first, so that boosts my confidence going into this one.
Weekend went pretty well, but not much to report. Two midnight shifts, 5k, and family visiting for the holiday messed any notion of a schedule. Diet stayed steady, splurged a bit with some organic animal crackers yesterday, but was mostly my crockpot chicken tenderloins, mushrooms, and onions for all my meals. One meal I added a whole wheat tortilla, and one a half cup of quinoa. Pretty good day overall for the diet. Will hit the weights at some point today, and depending on whether I get a nap or not maybe a few miles. This is the wife's late night and one of my days to be up for what looks like at least 28 hours.
On tap for today diet wise will be more of the same. Chicken and eggs. I do need to increase my water intake though. I have been knocking out roughly 80oz over the weekend, but need to get it up higher. Aiming for at least a gallon a day. Need to be hydrated for my 10k and would like to weigh in somewhere around 294 for the race. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.
Discontent is the first necessity of progress.

Great job on the PR Cory!! How did you like the new JUGGERNAUT HP for your run? I tried it before my soccer game last week and I think I like original formula better for my cardio sessions. Still not sure since I only took it once for cardio - so still need to do some more experimenting - just wondered what you thought.
Have a great week Cory and hope you get your rest in. Looking forward to seeing what you can do in that 10k at the Big House - hope the stench in the area doesn't get to you though!! lol

Only stench coming from the Ann Arbor area would be from Ohio State or Michigan State fans running along side of me. 8-)
I loved the taste of the HP, I bought the 10 serving pink lemonade. It mixed much better than the original. Not sure how it did on the run though. I felt better for my trail 5k using my free sample of animal rage that I got from the Arnold. Like you though, this was my first crack at it at all, much less for cardio. I may just need 2 scoops though, I have documented how high my tolerance is for this type of thing. It is a little too expensive for 2 scoops though and I have not been thrown any free ones to try out.
Thanks for the well wishes on the 10k. Am hoping for under 80 minutes., which will put a nice chunk under my last. Not sure if I will try the HP for that one.

Long day.
Oh what a long day. Still another 2 hours before my wife gets home and the kids have been HORRIBLE! Teething kids suck. A good moment of silence from my daughter though.
She must have been thinking about what body parts to train today.

Monday's workout.
Sorry I didn't post before I crashed out last night. My last minute workout prior to bed.
Product Used:
Pre-workout - Orange Juggernaut (2) Scoops in 12oz water.
Monday's Workout:
Bench press:
205 x 10, 205 x 10, 205 x 8
Easy Bar Curl:
95 x 7, 95 x 7, 95 x 7
Easy Bar Reverse Curl:
65 x 10, 65 x 10, 65 x 10
Close Grip Bench:
135 x 15, 135 x 15, 135, x 14
A statement describing what I felt:
I was tired. Up for almost 28 hours straight, but I managed a 1 hour nap while kids slept. Unfortunately, that was something that the Juggernaut couldn't help overcome.
A brief statement as to its effectiveness as a Pre Workout supplement:
Bad day to judge because I was sooo tired. It helped me to knock through my few sets though.
Closing Statement about the training day, i.e. Notes:
Didn't get too much in tonight. Did what I needed and then crashed out. Diet was off from being up all day and being stressed. Was over my planned 1800 calories, but I haven't taken the time to check what the totals were. At least I got some weight time in.
Juggernaut numbers:
Taste - 9, I really like the orange flavor. Tastes like a creamcicle.
Mixability - 7, some sediment at the bottom
Effectiveness - 4, only because it didn't give me a real boost for above stated reasons. Still fell asleep shortly after I hit the sheets.
Additional - I still am a 3 scoop guy, however not before bed.Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.

Honoring a bodybuilding friend.
Just wanted to honor a bodybuilding friend today. 3 years ago , a friend of mine Eric was in the first week of training at a new police department. On April 9th, 2006, Eric and his training officer were out assisting a broken down motorist. A semi hit the rear of the cruiser sending the training officer flying and pinning Eric between the vehicles and center divider. Eric suffered severe injuries as could be expected and was told he would never be a police officer again.
Eric's determination and his bodybuilding background helped him return to police work 4 years later. Today I just want to send out how much of an inspiration he is to me and so many others. He is the true representation of a Juggernaut!

....F.Y.I TO ALL JUGGERNAUTS.....THIS IS A QUESTION THAT I RECEIVED FROM A FEW CONCERNED JUGGERNAUTS , SO HERE IT GOES TO ALL JUGGERNAUT IN CASE THEY ARE INTERESTED......
>>>>>>>>>>>>>> HOW BAD ARE FAST FOODS EVEN IF I TRAIN? <<<<<<<<<<<<
ANSWER;
***FAST FOOD... WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW****
More than 90% all items in fast food is actually acid forming, which includes hamburgers, french fries, fried chicken, coke, etc.
OILY food and trans fatty acid are quite dangerous, when you boil vegetable oils in high temperature the starch and sugars and vegetable oils will form a CANCER compound called Marylander.Eating sweets causes you to be fat because they are not burned when you do eat it, so the body stores them. Eating oily food is not healthy either, because oily foods becomes fat too, but most importantly free fatty acids are highest in fried food (from the frying possibly) and scientists do know that free fatty acids BLOCKS the actions of HORMONES. SOOOOOO, NO HORMONES NO RESULTS, NO JUGGERNAUT BODY!!!!!

Tuesday, April 10th. IAJ Day 9.
Correction to header, this is day 10! I used this mostly as a core day. Not too much to report here, I was going to hit weights but was afraid kids would wake up and interrupt. I attempted the P90x Yoga X dvd for roughly 20 minutes, then went on to push ups, sit-ups, and some other core exercises. Yoga X is no joke for a fat non-flexible guy like me. I can see if I keep at it little by little, it will definitely improve my overall flexibility, strength, and relieve some of the pain caused by the stresses to my body caused by my line of work.
So I gave the Juggernaut HP a try for Tuesday. It was the second time I have tried it and I took it before I decided on the core workout.
A statement describing what I felt:
This is the second time trying HP. Both times it gave me a tingling sensation on my lips. It only lasted a minute or two, but it was strange. I really didn't feel anything with one scoop, but considering it wasn't a huge workout, I probably wouldn't have noticed even if it did. I was feeling good going into my workout and was happy go get some fitness time in.
A brief statement as to its effectiveness as a Pre Workout supplement:
Tough to say as my workout was just a core workout. Initial notions between 2 uses are 2 scoops may be the necessary dosage for me. Not too shocking since I use 3 scoops of regular Juggernaut.
Closing Statement about the training day, i.e. Notes:
I felt pretty good after my core workout. It was interrupted with the dogs and kids, but I got a good amount done and felt pretty good that I was able to get fitness time in. I was able to concentrate on some problem areas and recognize the areas that still need work for my physical fitness requirements.
Juggernaut HP Pink Lemonade numbers:
Taste - 10, this stuff tastes just like pink lemonade.
Mixability - 10, mixed completely with not sediment or gritty taste.
Effectiveness - 4, only because I didn't notice much with 1 scoop.
Additional - Accomplished much of what I wanted today, so I am pretty happy with it.
Macro Breakdown for the day:
Calories - 1223
Protein - 160
Carbs - 37
Fiber - 11
Fats - 49
Daily Supplements: Note: Still waiting on my IL Vanilla Whey. 2 weeks on backorder from bb.com

April 11, IAJ Day 11.
Today I felt pretty good. Kids went down, so I got to hit the weights. I tried to hit some problem areas with my training today to try and assist with any PT test I may have coming up. My sit-ups have always been a trouble area, so I hit those again today.
Today's workout:
Deadlifts - first 2 sets with fat gripz. 10x135, 7x205, 7x205, 7x205, 7x205
Barbell Rows - 8x135, 8x135, 8x135
Alternating Dumbbell curls - 7x50, 6x50, 5x50
Sit-ups - 2x30
A statement describing what I felt:
My back was sore, but I know it is a weak area and wanted to hit it today. Rows suffered a bit after the deadlifts, but I got through. Curls are down, which is disappointing, but considering it has been awhile, not too bad. Didn't want to get too heavy leading into my 10k this weekend. I was on a high not weighing in at 294 this morning. I know it may not last the day, but I was good to see that I may break that 290 mark in the next week or so.
A brief statement as to its effectiveness as a Pre Workout supplement:
2.5 scoops of orange Juggernaut and I was ready to go. I love that I know just how much I need to get me going. This helped power me through everything I wanted to nail today. Though not as strong as I want to be, I blasted through and felt good and felt pumped after.
Closing Statement about the training day, i.e. Notes:
Great workout in today. Very satisfied with my results. It feels good to get back into the swing. only 4 hours of sleep and I still hit it. Kids cooperated today and slept at the same time and I look forward to some core tomorrow and a light workout Friday. Off day for Saturday and Race Day on Sunday. Calories are looking to be over my goal today. I didn't take lunch into work last night and ate when I got home at 0100. I am still learning what my triggers are and how to deal with them. Not packing a lunch is something I really need to correct. Carb. control is the other. I really have to have the wife hide the crackers she brings home. It isn't beneficial to my self control
Juggernaut numbers:
Taste - 9, I really like the orange flavor. I just really do.
Mixability - 7, some sediment at the bottom
Effectiveness - 8, I felt damn good today!
Additional - I am debating whether I try the HP for my race this weekend. Not sure I will, but I may change my mind.
Daily supplements:
Carnitine MTX
Oxidane X
Cyclo Bolan
Juggernaut
BCAAs
Raspberry Ketones
CoQ10
Resveratrol
Fish Oil
When I get home after work, I will get my daily macros up. I am estimating around 2200-2300 calories today. Damn crackers. Still aiming for 290 for race day, however, no scale to measure in Ann Arbor.
Now some departing music. I love this song and it powers my runs.

Up your fats and your protein to help control the carb cravings. I only struggled for a few days and now I'm enjoying most of the day with minimal carbs. Zach A and Kenknee are pretty knowledge with the whole carb/calories thing. Dieting is the hardest part. Don't get discouraged.
Journey is done. See my final pics with Juggernaut HP!

Thanks man. I'm not discouraged, just trying to figure everything out. It is really rough trying to dial everything in. I know I am going to have good and bad days, and as long as I have more good days than bad and the bad days aren't horrible I will be fine. Have several goals set and they help me keep focused. I get distracted on occasion, but end up back on track.

I love FAT GRIPZ!!! Glad to know there are other JUGGERNAUTS that use them!
Man, you are doing so great. I highly recommend the HP for your race. I don't usually advocate doing anything you haven't done before on race day, but you've taken the HP already, I'm just saying I think it's equally effective for running as it is for resistance training!

Thanks man.
Thanks on the compliments on the progress. I like the Fat Gripz too. I don't use them nearly as much as I should, but they add a great change of pace to the workouts. I mainly use them on bench, curls, and deads.
I figured I would try the HP for race day. I have a high tolerance for things, so changing up pre-workouts prior to races doesn't really phase me. As long as I don't have a sample that tastes horrible and I keep burping it up during the race, I do o.k. I will do 2 scoops and add my air aide. The air aide I got at the Arnold and has done o.k. for me the 2 races I used it in. This will be a truer test. It supposedly helps open up the lungs better. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.

Diet is such a tough one! I work at a day care where we provide all the snacks and meals for the children. It does get tough when they serve crackers and god forbid cookies. I'm getting to the point though that I just feel disgust when I see stuff I know has no benefit to my body. A co-worker came in today with a mocha frap from McDonalds and a bag of cheetos for lunch, while wearing her Sketchers Shape Ups, might I add. I'm so glad to be past those days and you're well on your way to resisting the bad foods too Best of luck!

Fat Gripz makes the weight heavier right? that's what i've come to understand from it... you use anything to improve grip strength? my forearms are big already but my grip is weak... wondering what i can do to improve it.. love to know your thoughts on that...

Thank you. Work is always the worst place for me, especially right now that I am stuck in a box for 8 hours with no where to go. It is easter candy here, left over cookies there, and can make it difficult for an emotional eater like me. I have at least come to the point where I know when my cravings are due to things such as boredom or anger and can try to squash it when I feel it coming. Not always, but I have been winning those battles more than losing and it is showing on the scale.
As for co-workers, your co-worker sounds like an former co-worker I had. She wanted to eat 6 meals a day to lose weight. So in the course of 8 hours I had to endure 3 TV dinners, a bag of combos, and pictures of her days playing flag football. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.

Day 12.
Great day today, until I got into work anyways. Luckily this isn't a post about work.
Light day today, trying to work on some weaknesses and core. Downed my juggernaut and off we went.
Bench Dips - 5X10
Sit-ups - 2X30
Push ups using swiss ball. Not sure what they are called, but you start with your chest on the swiss ball, hand walk out until only your feet are on the ball, do push up, hand walk back and repeat. 3X7
Add in an assortment of stretching and it was a great day, shorter than planned, but great! Need some more stretches before race this weekend though. Hammies are tight.
A statement describing what I felt:
I was in a really good mood today, kids cooperated, Juggernaut kicked in, Sirius Octane on the TV, and it was sunny! Good day.
A brief statement as to its effectiveness as a Pre Workout supplement:
1.5 scoops of orange Juggernaut and I was ready to go. Though not a heavy day of any sort because of the race coming up, it felt really good, even though I was sore from yesterday's workout. Bench dips and juggernaut combo had my arms feeling really good!
Closing Statement about the training day, i.e. Notes:
Felt really good today. Some tightness in my left hammie that really needs to get worked out before my 10k, but overall felt really good. I had forgotten how good I feel when I workout. I have definitely missed that feeling. Also on a great note, according to the scale, 294. My goal of 290 by race day could be possible.
Juggernaut numbers:
Taste - 9, I really like the orange flavor. I just really do.
Mixability - 6, some sediment at the bottom, more than previous days.
Effectiveness - 8, Though I didn't hit the weights, I really came out feeling good and my arms felt solid and full.
Additional - I have decided to try HP for my race this weekend. Going to try 2 scoops and see if it works a little better for me.Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.
Discontent is the first necessity of progress.
