Stannis is a respectable king in the way he fights with his soldiers
but so is Tywin, he rode in with troops with him at the front right into the thick of the fight
all of the kings ride into battle with the exception of Joffrey

He was taken by his own men, and his likely avenue of escape was also revealed earlier in the episode.

Tyrion: "Pod, run to the Kings Gate. Bring any men guarding it here, now!"
It looks like the show led us to believe the climbed the ladders right beside the Mud Gate. This couldn't be the case as Joffrey/Tyrion were on the wall/stairs beside the gate. It must have been in a different spot on the wall.
This would account for how Tyrion sallied out and attacked the ram, but then was attacked by a different part of Stannis army. Looks like there was a fight along the walls elsewhere, and we only saw Stannis there.

a great episode IMO. well worth the anticipation.
I thought the battle was done very well considering they couldn't pull off something from LOTR...which seems to be what many of you were expecting. lol
and some of these questions...do you even watch?
the worse part being those familiar with the books come in and answer these dumbfck questions with TMI and spoilers. good job guys. thx for the help. Its not how you swim, its how you hold your breath
Its not about playing fair in this life, its more about cheating death

I might be wrong, but Tywin was NOT leading the charge, Loras Tyrell was. Also, Tywin is not a fukking king. Also, Joffrey is like 14.
Also to the people asking, yes, it was Stannis's own men who were dragging him off, probably trying to make him escape.
Anyway that was the best episode in the entire series so far and if you didn't like it you might as well quit watching now.

Loras was wearing Renly's armour as well (http://i.imgur.com/kZMFb.jpg). You're right Loras led the charge.
And Joffery may be young, not sure if it's 14 because they age them up in the show compared to the books but even his cousin Lancel was fighting for a bit. Joffery is just a coward.Last edited by Kenetics; 05-28-2012 at 12:53 PM.

Not sure if I'm confused here or the producer's doing this on purpose but...
When Tyrion went through the side door, he literally killed 1 guy and his army of 20 men was celebrating...I thought there were more of Staniss' men trying to barge in?
Where did Joffrey go? If the producers meant for it to be ambiguous then don't answer but did he just run to his chamber?
I think Tywin said last episode that he was going to march on Robb's army, but he ended up at King's Landing. Why was this?
When Tywin's army came to the rescue, was it supposed to be ambiguous on purpose? I had no idea it was them and thought it was more of Staniss' men.
Also agreed with other posters of the discontinuity, Stannis spending half the episode on the wall, lolwtf.
And Sansa running away and the Lannister's actually winning. oh boy dis gon be gud now all of the starks are free (except Jon Snow)Leafs, Raptors, Jays, umad?

Aren't all these people supposed to be wicked young in the books? Seems like in the GOT world kids are thrown into the "adult" world in early teens. Girls are allowed to fuk and boys are taught how to fight and go to war/guards etc...
So at 17 I think people should be already badasses. Joffrey obviously is a vagina of epic levels.

Hound always came off as being alpha, but has he ever fought any real battles/wars? We know he is fearless in 1 on 1 combat, but isn't this the first time he's ever had to fight in this manner?
We know the fire freaked him out because his head was held in a fire as a boy... Perhaps he decided to just say F it, this 'king' isn't worth fighting for. He's seemed to have a thing for Sansa for awhile now anyways. As soon as he walked off the battle-field I knew he was going to go find her and run away with her.
As always, Bronn is the most alpha character there. Everyone else is fighting for honor, for a vow, for something they believe in, etc. Bronn is just there to collect a paycheck... Just another day at the office for him. He's quite possibly the one character who would have the least to lose if he'd just walk away (In terms of honor/reputation).
