I find the HodgeTwins funny as hell, and their advice is more oriented to noobs. When I was new to lifting, they gave some useful info (for someone that doesn't know sh** of bodybuilding).
Lately I've found them more repetitive, and it seems that with all the publicity in their videos and their t-****s and merch, they seem to have taken a more commertial turn.

Ian needs to spend less time making videos, and more time actually doing what he preaches because he has a sht body, and isn't making any improvements. Also sorry the hodgetwins and lui can't be correct about 100% of the things they say, at least they have good bodies and make progress. Also instead of hating on people giving free advice with no strings attached to help people, why don't you hate on the fitness industry which is using huge geared up dudes to market useless products to people. Lastly if you remember correctly Ians fat ass attacked them first.

No, they pretty much say "don't do deadlifts/squats" because they fcked up their back doing it. Because it applies to them, they try and say everyone will fck up their sh*t doing it.
Sure, you technically don't need to do deadlifts or squats or anything for that matter to get a good physique, but compare someone who deadlifts and squats to someone who doesn't and you'll see why that person deadlifts/squats in the first place. Besides deadlifts and squats, there really aren't that many other compound exercises for your whole body either. You could do front squats or power cleans/jerks, but I'm sure they will tell you that you're gonna snap yo sh*t up with those too....1 Stripe Blue Belt, Gracie Barra BJJ (Reps to BJJ/MMA brahs)

i have only seen the one video of the Hodge twins so maybe i'm wrong but all they said was that eating poptarts will just make you hungrier later on. they didn't say anything about it being impossible to lose fat if you eat a poptart. seems like you are setting up a straw man, but again maybe they said something else in a different video..?

The twins are hilarious.
Ian Mcarthy is 18 going on 50. A real life (Good) Will Hunting, but nowhere near as cool. Plus some of the things he comes out with are questionable. One of the last videos was called 'the uselessness of the Glycemic Index' where he puts forward a swiss cheese argument about how the GI is completely useless, but if you challenge him, he doesn;t upload the comments, and nobody can rate his video.

Like all good arguments both sides are true,
First of all on dieting, specifically iifym, it is atonishingly rare for a noob who is just starting out to even know what a macro nutrient is. It's taken me along time to acquire all the knowledge I have. So when the hodge twins say eat clean for your average gym noob this is the best advice until they are further educated. It's like Maths you don't start off with long complicated equations you start with the basics. You start telling some fat Kunt noob that it's easy to lose weight whilst eating pop tarts, which it undeniably is, guess what he stays fat because he keeps eating 10 a day.
Then for anyone willing to make bodybuilding there primary hobby iifym is the only reasonable way I can foresee leading a near conventional life. Yes sacrifices are made, but not nearly to the extent of the only clean eat bullsh.it. I have got fairly shredded tracking macros and eating at least 2 sources of very high gi carb or junk food everydayEast Midlands Aesthetic Crew

No offense brah, you look decent in your avi.
But srsly? Who starts off bodybuilding without knowing what is a macronutrient? I'm talking serious bb-ing, not when you were 14-15 and just started doing bicep curls in the gym. Almost anyone would have heard the phrase "dieting is more important if you want to lose weight", plus you see your female friends/colleagues eating salads for lunch and saying that they want to shed off a few pounds. Also, if you frequent the BB.com forums, it is very rare if you have not heard of the IIFYM craze. I knew what was a macro like 3 months after I started seriously lifting. I knew it was a chore to count calories but it would give me the best results. Thought this was obvious to anyone.IIFYM Crew

Who cares OP, you know whats true so may as well do that and dont worry about others. At the end of the day, the hodge twins are helping noobs and average lifters out there that simply lack the self control and dedication to follow an IIFYM diet. These average lifters dont really see themselves looking like Zyzz or somebody like that, they just want to get in shape, and by eating clean and working out they will achieve that. A noob wont benefit from IIFYM because he simply wont follow it. If he is allowed 2 slices of pizza that day, he will eat another 2, or hell, half the pizza because it wont make much difference in his eyes and since he worked out so hard he deserves it. After all, there is no such thing as dirty food right?
Most people just want to go the easy way. They dont want to count calories, check how many grams of carbs this has and multiply it by 4, same for the protein and fats x 9 etc. They dont want to track their calories in an app all day and make sure they are burning only 500 cals and not 600 etc, average person is just not willing to go that deep, hence why they are out of shape in the first place.

Ok so you're saying their advice is for idiots who are too lazy to learn the basics?
Thank god I found the misc before these youtube retards. They spread misinformation and confuse noobs and cause them to believe broscience, not beneficial at all. Misc taught me everything I need to know, from cutting and bulking to celltech to programs like starting strength to form of deadlits and squats and etc. Hell I started by watching vids of that scooby lifting guy on youtube and I immediately thought hmm he sounds like hes spouting bs and went on here to find real information.

What you say is of course true, what I'm trying to get at is the hodge twins offer advice at the very bottom of the learning curve, yes some people skip this through browsing places like the misc and picking up on iifym. But at the end of the day the clean dieting that they advocate is not 'wrong' per se just not as efficient as iifym. But for a noob totally fine as it will teach them about diet initially. I'd just like to add that I'm really not a fan of the hodge twins and I think Ian mc is brilliant, but I just don't believe the hodge twins can be called idiots outrightly
