What Is The Big Deal With Evan Centopani?
I have to ask, because every magazine or internet publications thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I just don't see it. His chest is too weak for his body, his lat spread is not as impressive as lets say Lionel Beyeke. Not to mention some pretty gnarly and abundant stretch marks. I'm not saying he's not a specimen, or that he doesn't look good. I'm just saying I don't think he deserves the hype he's getting.
You may all now nail me to the cross.

Et tu, Brute?
His personality has as much to do with it as does his physique. People love him because he's humble, modest and extremely intelligent. If I had to pick a spokesman for our sport, I would definitely nominate Evan.
P.S. he has the genetics to be truly great. Give him time to fill out his frame.

He's a tall guy who comes in very good condition. Once filled up you can damn well say he's gonna win.
Thankfully judges don't care about stretch marks as some of you folks do. Talk about nit-picking.

Look at his contest record. That alone demands quite a bit of attention.

Fair enough. I'm just not sure how potential trumps accomplishment. when looking at some of the new comers, I thought Lionel Beyeke should've placed higher than Centopani. He had a better V-shape, enormous back, thick delts and chest, and big legs. I'm glad Evan's a good guy and hope he lives up to hype he's creating.

You don't really notice his stretch marks on contest day when he's on stage.

Give him a Muscletech contract and you will see him winning show after show.

I'm convinced it's a popularity thing... One of those guys who always had the hype even as a rookie.
Physique wise, he should be battling on the 2nd callouts (unless it's a lower show), weak back and chest but specially he lacks thickness in general, he just doesn't look developed from all angles, he's lacking the so-called density and 3-D look that the elite guys have (yes, even Branch)...
He has plenty of time and i think his Flex Pro 2011 package was his best show, as of right now i think he's one of the most overrated guys in the circuit in co-relation to the callouts he gets.

Not impressed from any of the following?
His conditioning
his proportions except his chest
his great symmetry with the mass he holds
Something to consider is that the competition isn't that strong at the shows he has competed in. He probably wouldn't have been top 4 at the Arnold between 2005-'10.
If he's so overated then why don't people try to explain why Ben, Dex or even Lionel(lol) should beat him.

you dont have to have a big chest to look thick, besides i dont think his chest hurts him that much, he just needs to continue improving all over his back in particular

dude is as thick as they come. the only issue is the structural flaw in the FDB and his muscle separation. either he has to practice posing more or the separation is just a genetic thing.

So far this is the only comment worth a reply, the others are the usual fanboys who can't see past his weak points.
His conditioning is pretty good, however he seems to have the problem of overdoing it in the last few weeks. It's curious that his most complete package was displayed actually 2 weeks before his peaking goal, last year.
His proportions still need some work, alot of it actually. Needs more back and chest size, more hamstrings and he needs to figure out a way to not get his waist even wider that what already is, while getting those much needed improvements.
People talk like he just needs to make small improvements, not clearly the case since we are talking 2 big muscle groups here.
Yeah he has mass but he still needs more size, remember that he's the same height as Wolf while being 15lbs lighter and people have given sh*t to Wolf all these years for not being able to fill out his frame.

also, his posing needs work. He actually looks like he struggles with it on stage.

still natural
Imo all Evan needs is to come in fuller whilst still achieving the graininess he is capable of, and a little more sweep to his lats. If this is possible he will be a handful for anyone.
