possibly the best shape to ever grace a bb'ing stage.
one thing always bothered me about what his legacy left behind though. he never seemed to be in contest condition, even for the time.
are there any good shots of him with detail showing this or is it just the typical shots i see that present a different story?
nice pics either way, hadn't seen these.___________________________________________________________

Thick. Solid. Tight. I wonder if there were any massive people way back when...like roman warriors and stuff. There had to be someone that at a ****load of fish or meats and got huge as fak back in the days before bodybuilding...

A truly great bodybuilder and born for the sport. He lacked posing unfortunately.
I think back on him and he seemed a bit bitter about the whole thing with Arnold also. And I heard at the Olympia with all of them on stage that he was pissed off at people, it was suggested his not happy that he isn't seen as the myth anymore and that his getting older and just isn't what he used to be?
Great bodybuilder forever though.
As for big romans and stuff, yeah I'm sure some people looked defined, and some big but most likely not both, they would need the genetics even more than today and the access to food and some manual labour. Remember this is no natural physique here... The biggest and best natural with out a doubt has to be Eugen Sandow.

Honestly, these pics just make me want to compare him to vic richards with how sergio never really came in "on"(not that vic richards really even did shows) but obviously he was a great bodybuilder and not many people could have done what he has, as well as being a mass monster back in those days. Gotta admit, love the physique though

Too big compared to what? His arms arms and forearms seem to balance each other out nicely. His chest from the side seems to balance with him arms almost perfectly, from the front he could use a bit more "cap" to his delts, that's about it. His delts look great from the side as far as balance goes, especially in the 70's where his competition had tiny delts from the side vs their arms. And how is his chest too big? His entire upper body is massive so I don't see what could be throwing off his proportions? Perhaps you just don't like his narrow waist?

Yes, the small waist is a straight give away that it most likely isn't a recent physique.
I always LOL @ the clowns saying that his arms are too big or his waist is too small, THIS IS BODYBUILDING. God damn if I went into every Ronnie thread and commented, huge gut no calves people would probably be annoyed but for some reason they feel the need to comment on every Sergio thread.

Right. This is why I like the 1998 Mr.O - 2001 AC Ronnie best. Sure he got bigger later, but I just don't like what happened to his waist. Some people like the heavier Ronnie better, but IMHO the tiny waist just made him look better.
There was a time in bodybuilding where nobodys waist got bigger, they took drugs, they ate tons of food, they lifted very heavy weight, and no expanding waist, no distended belly they had to learn to hold in.
It makes me wonder WTF happened in the late 1990's that carried into the 2000's to hurt the V tapers?

would love to have seen sergio or arnold in real life in their prime. Back in those days when bodybuilding wasnt really known, it must of blown people away to see something like that walk down the street. 70s would have been the best time to be a bodybuilder.
also i know we arent allowed to go in to details but were they just using dbols back then or did they already have access to tren and injectables?
