it would be extremely difficult to pull off on today's internet.
too many heuristics involved with regards to passing along packets.
While there might be some momentary slowness to individual root servers, when the packet threshold for a specific attack is reached those packets will be shut down. if it were 5 or 10 years ago it would have been much easier to accomplish but at this point network security is at the point of high art.
also there are more than 10 root servers in the usa, there are several hundred of them spread across 130 different locales across the world.

well if it did happen i can say this it would have ONE MAJOR EFFECT i'd love. You know how since the advent of the net all those little balless wonders who never had the spine to insult people face to face have done it so long with immpunity on line they think they cna get away with rude behavior in person know and if you put them in their place they act like your wrong for doing it?
Well they'd soon be scurrying back to their dark corners,and and the level of rudeness would drop again down to normal levels in the real world..i think!

Yeah, it's a wonder how we survived as teens without the internet. I mean, having to stand by the phone to talk because your mom was too cheap to buy one of those super long spiral cords? Sucked. And having to actually go over to a girl's house to spend some time with her, instead of talking to her on Facebook or on your cell phone?
