OK knowing that everyone here has different goals and no two people might think alike, this is a hypothetical question and a poll to see how most of us think in terms of goals.
If there were only two options (only two for the thick headed f'cks that can't relate to only TWO options go suck on an egg or something see if something comes out) which one out of the two would you choose.
Here are the two, would you be OK if you were training and.
1) Month after month your numbers were going up but your build remained the same.
2) Month after month your numbers remained the same but your build was changing (i.e. getting bigger, bigger NOT fatter)

I think you know how I voted.
The strong, but normal looking guy blends into a crowd. The muscular, but average strength guy gets the looks.
Again, it all boils down to what your goals are. If you want to walk around knowing you're strong, then looks probably don't matter to you. If you want to turn heads, but don't have much practical use for strength, then your priorities are different from the other guy. The only thing you have in common, is you both use resistance training to achieve your goals.★DSC★

The numbers have to go up 100%. Thats the only reason I lift.
It just seems pointless to lift the same over and over. would drive me crazy."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

I'm going with #2 Build changes, numbers remain the same. Reason: I'm burned out on pushing for maxes. I realize I need to develop functional strength, especially in my core. The type of workouts I'm doing will (should!) change my build and strength, but my weights won't be changing all that much.
