    Workout with no sleep?

So school work and studying has really screwed up my sleeping pattern, so much that i didnt sleep at all last night. I'm suppose to go workout today but i dont know how my mind/body will react to physical exertion after zero sleep. Is it a bad idea? Im not too sure about the science behind it.

I was thinking about just pounding back some 1MR pre workout, but again, zero sleep, good idea? or not? I dont want to screw up my workout pattern.

Ya you should go home and rest and take the day off.
Working out on no sleep will add extra stress and put your body into a catabolic state.
Your better off to go home and come back rested and strong for optimal results!

Thanks that does sound like the better plan.

However i am interested in what would happen if i did do a workout in this state? Specifically for muscle recovery and the negative effects of the extra stress?

I do it often as I work rotating shifts. I'll come off a graveyard shift sometimes and hit the gym around 830 am after being awake since noon the previous day. I've had good gains, and a lot of people in my line of work do the same. It's up to you, but without a pre-workout I doubt I'd be able to get through my workout. Cheers.

I would work out all the time on no sleep, my hours at work got switched to nights and I would go right when I got out in the morning so I would have the day free. I had some great workouts just needed some caffiene.

it depends on the person. I cannot Workout properly with minimum sleep. I just get fatigued faster and feel weak. If you can do your normal workouts the same as you would with your sleep. Then that is fine here or there. but we all will agree that getting rested is the better play overall

do whatever you like, if your body is up to it. i work rotating shifts and commonly work out 4-5 hours before they start, sometimes directly after even though i've been awake for like 18 hours already...depends on the person. i'm sure any other LEO/firefighter/EMT/etc person who's into bodybuilding does this often.
