Went to GNC to buy a 5 pound of whey, and I swear the guy was a tard ass. After trying to persuade me to buy some brand other than ON, I showed him how it might be a little more expensive but had way more servings etc., and moved to check out counter. He proceeds to tell me to take 3 serving a day separately for maximum results. My response was "Three times a day? I don't have the time to make a shake 3 times a day, I usually just make a 2 coop shake at night and get the rest of my protein from my meals". This is when he said "Well the body can only process 30 grams of protein at a time so if you take more than that your just wasting protein".
I swear to god, where do people get this information? And you'd think a company like GNC would have at least a little common sense nutrition booklet for new employees to read so they don't come off as total dumb-asses. If the body could only absorb 30 grams of protein per meal, we would have been one dead species in the wild when you came across one huge animal every week or something. Talk about inefficient.

Obviously with additional food/carbs/fats/fiber in your stomach the digestion rate and amount will go up significantly higher than 30g, thats a no brainer. I'm wondering about the amount on an empty stomach with no addiional fat/carbs with say something like a 60g shake? Anyone to drop some knowledge on me?

I've gone into GNC twice EVER and both times had to listen to the idiot checking me out blather on about the same type of crap. That has to be the most annoying store in the world, it's like they train those people to verbally assault you with nonsense. The funniest part is that both times it was the scrawniest dude you could imagine (a diff guy each time actually), my build actually making him look frail. LOL
Where I live, the Vitamin Shoppe ROCKS. Better prices and a HUGE selection...plus if you are a member of their points program, you get lots of coupons and discounts. Bonus!
I'll never EVER go to GNC again. Ugh.Thank God for KETO!!!

people say stuff like that all the time...it's garbage. The best response is "please explain to me....VERY specifically...from an anatomy and physiology perspective why/how your body only digests/uses 30 grams of protein at a time?"
I love asking that...its a bunch of "um yeah um yeah um yeah uh well" in return. The best advice I can give you at 16 is anytime you hear garbage ask the question "please explain to me scientifically, from a biological perspective how that works".

The supplement companies are still pushing this crap because it makes their products seem more useful and valuable.
There was a research paper done a long time ago which found optimal MPS stimulation from something like 20-30g of whey for a few hours, and any more didn't have an effect. So obviously every supplement company jumped on the train and today we have every single Protein Powder product with those neat 25-35g doses and 7+ meals a day recommended, lol.
It's obviously way more complicated of a topic and jumping to retarded and premature conclusions is something only people with Dollar Signs for eyes tend to do. And for gullible people to buy into.Owner of:
