you can sell pistols or long guns FTF in NJ
buyer just needs Firearms ID Card for long guns and both parties fill out Certificate Of Eligibility - we dont need to register our long arms do big brother never knows when we buy private sale
pistol purchases the buyer needs a Pistol Permit(get one for each pistol) and you need to register it w the state. i dont think id ever buy a pistol private sale thoYour Dreams are within reach

I sold my SKS, 3rd gen G23, and M&P all FTF in the last few months. Not a single registration was given.

My favorite part was that I sold one handgun in the parking lot of a crowded Wal Mart, and another in the parking lot of a semi-busy Target. Both guys had the pistol out in the open and I didn't hear a single gasp, whisper, scream, or shrude comment. I wonder what would happen if I went to East Rutherford and waved a pistol around in the parking lot of the mall.

Funny, lot of peeps even here in Texas are all freaky aboot selling guns. I've seen guys on local hunting forums who will only sell to peeps with CHL, some who insist on seeing DL to copy info, etc... I've never given a rat's arse. I think I got a full name once and did a bill of sale that time. I've sold about 10 differing firearms and I couldn't tell you who got what unless there's a PM in a forum somewhere that I didn't delete and then I could give you a screen name.
I'm not gonna lie, I bought a rifle once in a Home Depot parking lot next to a busy highway. We're parked out front and I was inspecting it, looking through the scope and such and it felt weird as hell man. Felt like the popo would be pulling up guns a blazing any moment, not because it's illegal just figured some idiot would freak out. I told the seller "this feels so weird" and he laughed at me. LOL

Interesting observation this morning, peeps be fuggin skeered man.
I'm getting a popping noise from the A/C actuators under my dash in the truck so I dropped it off at the dealer around 7am this morning. Since the dealer is about 1.5 miles from the office I just dropped it off and walked to work. There's a bunch of empty restaurant and business parking lots (the tanning lot was full of customers already) and I cut across the lots for shortest route, couple cars just sitting in the middle of the lots and of course they see me walking by and you can just see the fear on their faces but no biggie I can see where it might be creepy.
So I get out to the main street, lots of traffic and stop lights. I'm walking opposite traffic down the left side of the street with cars coming toward me on my right. What's funny is that peeps will be sitting there screwing with the radio or whatever, then notice you and make eye contact briefly and immediately look away with a pale straight "oh ****" look and then scoot their cars up all the way next to the bumper of the car in front of them. Seriously like every time I glanced over at someone their reaction was to inch up really close to the next car.
This goes against everything I've been trying to teach my kids, in my head it's a major security violation. I mean, let's think about it for a minute. Let's say you're in your vehicle and a scary hairy looking scandinavian dude with a backpack on is eyeballing you from the sidewalk. Let's say you think his intentions are criminal, do you really want to sandwich your vehicle up against the car in front of you? What are you gonna do when he smashes your passenger side window, sit there and scream? Seems to me keeping a good distance AWAY from the car in front of you is prudent, dude makes a move and you cut your wheels left and punch the accelerator. No?
PS. I thought people were only afraid of black guys because of their dumb stereotypes, but now I'm thinking peeps are just scared in general.

I kept waiting for you to say you were open carrying or something. Why the hell were they scared of a presumably normal guy walking?
Sometimes I feel like I'm on another planet when I read stories from other metro areas. People tend to be cordial and pretty unobservant about what you do in CO. Almost to a fault in that they lack situational awareness. Anyhow, most people will give you a nod or a salute if you make eye contact while driving here (fat people, teenagers, illegals, and gangbanger types excluded). And so many people walk in CO (especially in Boulder and Denver), that it's not worth making a fuss about.
EDIT:
Yes, that's also a pretty stupid safety/tactical error. It cuts off your route of escape in the event something does happen.Near, far, wherever you are...

I think that's the key, we don't get many people walking anywhere down here (everyone is too fat to walk without breaking a sweat) so the only peeps you typically see walking are kids going to school. I'm guessing people think a mid-30's guy with a "tactical" looking backpack (my gym clothes lol) walking down the street is awkward???

if you are familiar with the specifics of making a gun california legal it will be that for the most part but no bullet button. You could still get lowers, you would be limited on magazine capacity and on actual rifles depending on their features. I agree with what hairy said, by the time feinstein can actually get the bill to the floor the current political climate will have changed, people will have lost interest and it will go nowhere plus the bill she is talking about introducing is so over the top that no one is going to support it.
the more likely scenario is that if obama puts together a working group to propose legislation for addressing the perceived issue they may come back with a more viable law. It most likely wouldn't be a ban like 94 since even the left admits that was ineffective but it would almost certainly include a magazine limit. There are some other provisions that could actually be a good thing imho, personally I think you guys selling guns to strangers in a parking lot with no idea of who they are is pretty sketchy and would like to see that stopped. Either implement an NC style law or a PA style law. Doesn't cost you anything when selling the gun, they have to pay to have their background checked.Last edited by jafomofo; 12-18-2012 at 09:27 AM.

Thanks for the advices, brotatoes. Done got ordered. Now I just have to wait.
Rear sight, charging handle, and mags were also ordered. I knew I needed to have them, so I didn't include them in the other post.
The sucky part is that the rifle portion of my range is closed due to a fire a few months ago. Hopefully it'll be open soon.Last edited by lhprop1; 12-18-2012 at 02:25 PM.

Ban question: do pre-ban mags apply for grandfathering? In other words, are the twelve 30 round PMags I have now just going to be expensive paperweights/SHTF items?
I remember seeing "pre ban magazines" as a big deal for AKs back in the day, so I assume current mags will get in on the grandfathering.Near, far, wherever you are...

You should have added:
Cliffs: People are stupid.
There won't be a ban.
But, in the event that there is, we couldn't really answer this question because it depends on what the bill/law actually says.
The '94 ban grandfathered items.
I don't think they would even seriously propose a ban that doesn't have a grandfather clause, unless maybe they do it so they can give up the grandfather clause in a 'compromise'

Leave some room - like 2 car lengths. 1 at the very least.
I don't know what to say.
Leaving this place as soon as my PhD is in hand. Probably be worse where I go but at least we won't have much in the way of violent crime. Petty crime is rampant so be aware of this - wear the same flip flops and ragged clothes as everyone else and no one will bother you. Keep the house and garage under lock and key and bar every window.

You don't need a whole lot of room, I always heard the "don't pull forward so far that you cannot see the rear tires of the car in front of you" thing. This of course varies in usefulness based on the specific vehicle you are driving. I try not to leave a ton of room, like two car lengths, because that just takes up a bunch of space and pushes the line of traffic back. In heavy traffic that messes things up. Two car legnths is kind of a ton of room
Really, any experienced driver who puts any thought into this knows how far he can pull forward while still being able to quickly and easily pull ahead/escape. As long as you think about this, you'll probably do it well enough
