I missed all the Camaro talk in the outdoors internet forum while actually out playing in the outdoors.

I had a friend that would do Auto Cross racing, had a hell of an RX-8 that I rode in only once with him best damn roller coaster ride I ever had. Anyhow, lots of fast cars would show up when they setup a track but every now and then a Camaro club would come down from Austin and shame everyone with the times they put up. Pretty amazing to see a larger car with so much power run through the curves of those tracks they would setup.

I always LOL when my branch manager flips out about fleet trucks being 500-1000 miles past 3K. I thought about explaining how the realistic lifespan of conventional motor oil is about 5K, with synthetic reaching 7500-10K, but it seems like an exercise in futility.

I think I went a good year without changing my oil once, using Mobil 5W30. I'd just top it off when it got low. Eventually, I seceded to the fact that my oil filter was probably toast, if nothing else.

At the same time I'm sure a jug of Mobil 1 from Walmart would do the job just fine. That's what goes in the other vehicle, actually, and has for many years. (got like 115k on it now)

For every day use, or even a weekend toy I say Mobil for synthetic applications, and Valvoline for conventional. Rotella 15W-40 for diesel applications.

AMS is great if you're running a true rock-crawler or buggy, but really unnecessary in an F-150 or Impreza.

Tried RP in old 78 camaro w/ new motor and in a race quad. Turned black very quickly and smoked the clutch in the quad.


Most of everything gets mobil 1 and a K&N oil filter.
