So what you're saying is you're knowingly going to pursue a career that goes against your values, knowing that later on you'll abandon what you truly believe in because you think the council knows what's best? Making $60K if you're lucky is enough incentive to infringe on people's rights, when you could make more and stay true to your values?

whether you fully agree w the law or not doesnt mean that you dont have to follow it. if the police catch you w illegal weapons its typically your fault for even giving them the opportunity to search your home. i could care less if people here have "assault" clips exceeding 15 rounds, but if im to stumble upon these illegal items i will still have to enforce the law. there will always be officer discression also. if i get hired in the dpt im trying to get hired in id start around 60k a year before taxes which really isnt that much after taxes+paying into the pension system here. I enjoy what patrolmen do and am most definetly not in it for the money. any job w power is going to attract azzholes, hence why so many people have bad experiences w leos.

My undergrad was CS, you don't want to do CS. One of those new fangled IT degrees maybe but I'd warn you off of that was well. The field stratifying significantly with the larger split becoming blue collar lower middle class wage earners.

not even medical sparks some interest? there are programs for Physical therapy aides that are only two years and will have you working next to PTs and with people and moving around all day. fudge desk jobs. median annual salary for PTAs was $51K in 2011. could be a medium before getting into LEO and if that doesnt work out you still have a associates degree in the medical field.

Or suck it up and do engineering. The math is a joke, they almost give you the answers. Finished all my math courses through diff eq. Went back to school around your age to finish my degree. Will be graduating this Aug.

Not trolling. At first it might seem hard but they practically give you the answers once you know how to/they teach you to use the integration and derivative rule sheets. Math in engineering is 80% recognition of how to solve it and 20% actually solving it. Once you recognize the pattern it's mostly plug and play, you don't even need calculators in calc 1-3 and diff eq.

I came close to shots taken on a huge Spike and a ram Aoudad bow hunting on public land this weekend. Wife let one fly at a NICE 10 point ~20" inside spread at 40 yards but couldn't connect. She's not sighted in for 40 yards, her furthest pin is 30 yards.

Then while waiting for her to get back to the boat I grab her fishing pole and catch 3 bass in 3 casts. 2nd one was freakin' huge but didn't get a pic because he flopped off while I was trying to lip him.

Build a big ass fire in camp and burned a tree that had to be 20' tall that we ripped out of the ground in the previously submerged part of the lake near the camp site. Took like 20 minutes to drag it back to camp LOL.

Too cold? Cold is when the play time comes. I was burning trees at 35 degrees and 20mph winds this weekend. OK so that's cold for Texas anyway! LOL

Lotta ducks out there but I was deer hunting. This coming weekend is a fishing trip to a cabin in the middle of the Laguna Madre (big bay behind the barrier island) and I might bring a shotgun just in case. Most likely only be Redheads in the bay though, following weekend is end of season and we'll probably make a camping trip out East to the island and blast a few more Redheads.

Hey, shoves make the best targets and they seem to die the easiest so Im not complaining! Idk how many would fly and just circle a few times just to try to land again. This has been the worst year for mallards that Ive had. Ive seen a handful and I think Ive killed 2.

There's a guy down here, calls the spoonies "smiling mallards" lol. They are definitely not the brightest of the ducks. Long ago when my son was still shooting a 20 gauge he shot one, knocked feathers off of it and it flew out and turned back in and tried to land in the decoys... he didn't make it all the way in due to a well placed follow up shot.
