They don't "need" to, but they ALWAYS snag NS and fuk up all the other records. I've been working as a consultant for almost 10 years now and it happens at least once a year to a customer. Half the time they don't tell me they are changing their website, and the other half of the time the web host doesn't tell them that they are going to do it.

Yeah, the company still has the registrar. Usually when this happens, I tell the webhost "NO! What IP do you need www and @ to point to?" There is no reason to move dns for a single service.
