alright! Can't wait for the premiere of American surfer warrior! . Looking bad ass in the T, muscular as hell as always.
I don't know what you're mindset is right now (post show exhaustion or relief etc, perhaps you could detail that in future posts?) but I for sure hope you go for it again. It would be interesting to see how you with a rookie season under you. And as far as rookies go you were practically a veteran anyways.
i'll get back to this...
yeah, I'm going in to get my shoulder re-done in a few weeks, I just told the doc "it hurts here, and when I do these things." I don't know if I even want your level of anatomy knowledge, it would scare me.
But I digress to earlier, you mention you observed you may heal better in the higher single digit body fat as opposed to lower.
I wanted to use my post surgical recovery to get really lean, then slow build as my shoulder mends. Might I be delaying healing in a strict calorie deficit?

Thanks. I think I'd like another go at ANW. Be fun to see if I can shore up my deficiencies and add some new skills.
I dont heal nearly as well at my lower body fat levels. I always figured it was hormonal (not enough estrogen production). IDK for sure but I am noticeably less durable and slower to heal injuries vs when I have a couple extra pounds of fat on me.
I also don't heal well on a caloric deficit so post operatively I would never recommend cutting. If I were you, I would eat maintenance or even slightly higher. The last thing I'd want to risk is avoidable muscle loss. Fat is easy to peel off, muscle is hard to grow.

They're patented and expensive so they seem pretty rare. http://www.si-boards.com

Thanks for the info.
As a second timer (particularly one who had a strong showing), do you get an automatic bid back? Or do they imply they would like you back?
Also, finishing stage three and climbing the rope on stage four within 30 seconds is beastly. Do you think you're there or could be in the future?

Not an automatic but they gave me homework to do in order to come back.
If my shoulder is intact I believe I can do any obstacle they had this season. The endurance to do them all in series is something you never really know until you're in it.

Easy looking 475 Chris, and always amazed at that DOH grip for such a heavy pull! I'd have thought that grip strength has to be the single most important factor in finishing the obstacle course so those DOH pulls must come in handy

Thanks guys. Sorry I haven't been good at posting up. I'm doing some unorthodox (for me) stuff in addition to the same old same old but they'll be part of my ninja package so it's all on the hush hush.
The shoulder is improving. Benching 315 pretty cleanly for 1-2 with 1-3 more assisted by the spotter (no pain). Muscle Ups are pain free with only a slight pinch at the last bit when I finish standing on the bar. Weighted Pull Ups (BW+107) feel good for 12-20 reps (no pain). Clapping pull ups only sting slightly and not until the teens. 475 dead is pretty automatic with no zingers. Walking lunges at 275, 315 for reps in the cage.
My balance drills are moving forward exponentially.
Starting to feel more and more bullet proof.
ANW8 is hopeful.

Update on this. Over the last 3 days I've managed to hit all my pre injury weights/movements without any shoulder pain.
Yesterday and again today I managed to start working on the stair machine and can go about a minute at a time (on my hands). It's pretty ugly so no video but I'm excited to be able to even try much less take >20 steps per set every time."I'm not a Ninja, but I played one on TV." -cmoore, American Ninja Warrior (ANW 7,8)

still pretty ugly but it's only day 3 doing them and my strength and balance aren't quite there yet. Still it's coming along and I think a few more days/weeks and it'll be cleaned up.
