    How does squatting give you abs?

    Just from the pressure it puts on your core? I seriously never feel sore in my abs section after squatting..after deadlifts I do

    Mostly just because you use your core to stabalize the weight. Try front squats, you feel it alot more. It really is just about getting ur bf down tho

    Powerlifters have huge cores, don't know what you're talking about. Their high BF helps the core and to protect the spine. If they cut, they'd have pretty thick abs.

    I would say deadlifts and squats are the best ab exercises. Lots of people don't even work abs in traditional ways and have nice abs becuase they stick to these hardcore compound movements.

    internal abdominal pressure is caused by the contraction of abdominal.

    when muscles contract and are exerted they either tear and undergo myofibrillar hypertrophy or if you believe in Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy the tension causes sarcoplasm expansion.

    in either case, you are effectively making the muscle bigger.
    everyone has abs. there are only 2 ways to make them more apparent.

    a) lose bodyfat. which is always necessary
    b) get bigger abs so they stick out more when you are at low bodyfat.


    another benefit some site is a tighter abdominal fascia, giving a harder tighter look to your core at low bodyfat

    They get activated in deadlifts too as do many muscles.

    It's the old, "The toe bone is connected to the neck bone" kind of thing in that your body is a whole. For instance, I've seen guys on steroids develop large cheek and jaw muscles because they're scrunching their face during lifts and "working" their facial muscles too. So, your legs are doing most of the work in a squat, but you have to flex your abs to stand back up, so they're working as support.

    That's how people can crap their pants doing a squat.
