If I had the space I would love to have a single tier dumbbell rack. A 20' row of dumbbells. With an adjustable bench facing the rack. Preferable a Hammer Strength. That would be great.
But I do not have the space. My gym is 10x12 and I only have 3 walls I can use. So I have a 4-tier rack, which I do not like. Top tier too high. Bottom tier too low. Middle tiers too close together.

Exactly on all counts. The 2-tier rack is a good compromise for me.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

That York kru sheer looks awesome.

I have a two tier rack (with saddles) that I really like. I wouldn't mind a 3 tier rack in order to save room. I know that precor makes one, and I think Hampton also, with saddles. But I'm too cheap to buy new, and I'll probably never find one used. The third tier on the precor rack looks high, but it shouldn't be a problem if the lighter DB's were on it.

EDIT: Max load on the precor is only 500 pounds. Horrible.STAND TALL AND SHAKE THE HEAVENS!!

Paulie_G left a few York bars at DynaBody, so I had to pick up one. I have a new bench press bar. It is a stainless steel York bar.
The bar has a very wide center knurl (7-1/2 inches) and is 29 mm. I like having a big shaft.
The sleeve bearings need cleaning and lubing. I know they can spin better than they do now. The sleeve keeper is held in place at the end of the bar with a roll pin.
The only writing on the bar, other than "York Barbell," "York PA" is "2 00" on the sleeve keeper and "P" on one end of the end of the bar. The other end of the bar has no writing.
The inside collars have some damage. The edge is turned over or mushrooming from where the plates hit the inside collar when they were put on the sleeve and slammed against the inside collar. I will take a file and smooth down the turned over lip.

I also picked up an incomplete set of York plates. Unfortunately, Heavy at DynaBody did not have some of the matching weights. The plates are machined (lathed) on all outer surfaces. I like that. I also like that they have a deep dish. That makes handling much easier.
I got a pair of 35s to use with my 62 lb Safety Squat Bar. With collars, this will give me almost the same weight as a straight bar with a pair of 45s. Makes the math easier.
I got a pair of 25s.
I got one 10, a pair of 5s, and one 2-1/2.

I can scrape out the dark spots out of the saw marks on the end of the shaft with my fingernail. I think it is dirt, not corrosion.
The bar attracts a magnet. But as was noted in the Ivanko thread that is not indicative of anything because many grades of stainless steel are magnetic.
On the smooth part of the shaft I can make out the grinding wheel marks from when the bar was polished. Normally, chrome plating fills in those marks. The surface does not have a chrome sheen. It has the look of polished metal. I took a picture, but my photo skills (and cell phone camera) are not up to capturing those marks as they really look.

Looks like chrome in the photos. I'm pretty sure but photos can be deceiving though. Can you retake the photo below in focus? It looks exactly like chrome but it's not in focus so maybe it's just the photo.
In 2000 (bar is marked "00"), they used chrome on some bars. There were no stainless steel bars advertised on their website in 2000.

The innermost part of the inside collar has corrosion on it. On both parts of the inner collar I can feel the lathe marks where they were turned. I can see the lathe marks on the outermost part of the inside collar (the thinner one). I can barely maybe almost make them out in the innermost part. The finish on the inside collar is different than that on the shaft. The shaft has been polished, but the collars have not.
The sleeve shaft looks to be bare metal with a deep patina. I have not yet cleaned the bar.
I am surprised at how well this pic came out. The others were terrible.
I really appreciate you looking at this.O─O York Barbell Crew #53 O─O

The photo did turn out nice. It does look like chrome plating to me. There are different types of chrome, different finishes, different thicknesses, etc. It's fairly common to see the marks from the metal lathe underneath the chrome unless the chrome is real thick. I'm not impossible to fool but I'm pretty sure... maybe 99% sure. I don't know the modern York bars very well but it might be the #212710. Back in 2000, it was advertised as "7' York International Power Bar, satin chrome finish (1500 lb.) #212710 $325.00". Here's the current version of that bar. http://www.adamantbarbell.com/Olympi...ar-Chrome-29mm

Boy, you know your stuff! Repped. (Oops. Hand slipped as I was typing my rep note.)
Your web link shows a bar that sounds just like the one I got.
Did they chrome the whole shaft on their bars? My curiosity is piqued.
I pulled off one sleeve to look at the shaft. The end portion of the shaft normally hidden by the middle of the sleeve looks similar to the non-knurled part of the bar. The big difference that I see is that the non-knurled portion has polish marks circumferentially and diagonally in both directions (about 45 degrees) and the shaft end only has polish marks that are circumferential.O─O York Barbell Crew #53 O─O

The sleeves and shaft were chromed. The chrome plating on the sleeves and shaft could have differences. They're chromed before assembly. Most of the marks are probably from finishing prior to chrome plating. Chrome is a very hard surface but it can scratch and the plating can also peel or chip.
