Here is some cool York iron that you have probably never seen. I received confirmation from Roger Marandino the old Brown University strength coach that these were in his weight room at the time and ordered from York.

Yes I did, nope im keeping them. Appears these were test plates that York gifted to Roger. Trying to find out more info. It was only hush to those outside of the circle of trust

Finally got around to restoring my Roundheads. First, I had to straighten the handles of several of the heavier ones. Worked great thanks to a few tips I picked up from fellow forum members Next I had a neighbor of mine sandblast all the dumbbells including the racks. Then I primed, painted, and did the lettering with an oil based sharpie paint marker. I think it turned out pretty good!

They came out better than good. Do you mind sharing the type of paint you used, for future refurbishers?

I've found that Rustoleum Painters Touch 2x Satin Black has held up very well on mine. I did mine close to a year ago and there is no noticeable wear or chipping.

edit - this guy still has a York barbell available if anyone is near Denver. Talked to him today to see if he ever swings down by my area and he said it is not bent or anything.

I too, am interested in the paint color. They do have a smooth look to them that you normally don't see. I wonder if the sand blast had any part in it?

Thanks for all the compliments guys! They turned out really good, but it was a lot of work. I just used Rustoleum Flat Black. It dried a little shinier than the plates I previously did. I'm not sure if that was because of the primer or because I went a little overboard with the paint, but i'm happy with the turnout. Now I just need to get a single hundo, and 20lbs-lower.

With this in MN, any guesses as to the poundage cost these may go for? I planned my vacation next week to the SE Coast (via motorcycle) but for a deal, I would switch to my truck and upper MN. Debating....

Exactly why I told the OP of the original thread to delete the link. It's good to give a heads up to someone in the area, but perhaps a PM to known members in the area would have been best.

It will eventually dissolve into gang violence. But not hardcore violence like the Bloods and Crips or, unfortunately the awesome gang violence of The Warriors, but some lame gang violence like The Sharks vs The Jets complete with dance fighting and snapping.
