I just picked up some vintage York bumper plates. The rubber on one of the plates is coming off the metal center. The rubber itself is in great shape, meaning there is no crack or tear, but it's sliding off the center. Does anyone know what kind of adhesive was used when they were made? I searched but could only find posts talking about filling cracks in the rubber. Thanks!

I'm guessing this is the YMCA in Chicago. Wonder how many collectors call or visit the gym to see if they still have these plates. . .

So, I'm thinking of getting some sort of vintage York bar after all. I will use it. I will use it getting ready for Olympic Lifting and All-Round Lifting meets. I do One Arm Snatches and One Arm Clean & Jerks competitively and in training so a center knurl is cool but not a deal breaker. I have an IWF Werksan bar with a center knurl already. Anyone want to recommend which vintage York bar(s) I should be hunting? Again, this bar won't be in a rack but used for lots of pulls and overhead work. Thanks in advance for any help. I can't believe I've let you guys influence me to this point!

That's a GREAT PIC ATTY!! The plates are still there. They get brought out by the 70+ year old lifters who show up at 4:30 A.M. and put back out of sight when they leave!
