heh, I question the validity of the description in the first pic. That doesn't look to be over 500 lbs. to me. Are those supposed to be 50 lb plates?

Decided to to do a restoration job on the York curl bar I picked up a week ago. After a few hours of elbow grease here is the result.

The feel of the bar is great! I love the deep bends. I was surprised by how much of a difference it made in the feel of the curl to have the sleeves revolving so freely without friction.

Question did you use a particular lubricant to help with spin?

Thanks Orange! Well I have read either 2 in 1 oil or white lithium grease, so I did an experiment. I greased the sleeves and gave it a sample spin and got good results. Then I disassembled and put 2 in 1 on top of the grease, the result was a lot better. I'm not sure if this is the proper method but that is what seemed to give me the best results. I did both my York 7ft and my curl bar this way and the spin is great.

This is what the plates look like. They just have the number in the front and no milling. No engraving either. The ones with engraving say ss1 and made in USA, but I'm pretty sure those are Hoffman Industries. Some of them say CHC, but I don't know what brand those are. Thanks for everything.

I have a pair of Hofmann 10's that are stamped "SS1" and "SS2" (one of each) so I believe that you are correct.

The pair of standard 25's? If so thats a good deal. Generally anything for less than $.50/lb is good. I haven't paid anymore than that for any of the York plates I got. Standard or Olympic

"Retail" for Roundheads under 70 pounds is 75 cents to a dollar a pound. After 70, it's a dollar and up.

For anyone in the Orlando, FL area. Just saw a pair of USA stamped 35lb Olympic plates for $30. Have been repainted but still a good deal. I would get them but don't have a way to get them back home. Already checked shipping and cost to much...
