I want some, glad you aren't very close to me. You could PM me a price though, you know, just in case I want to drive that way sometime in the next couple weeks.
Just the one time that I can think of, and I really wish I had the room for that squat machine.
I'll pretend that they did since I've painted almost all of my plates flat black."If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." -Thomas Paine

The original paint appears flat with use. I have all my plates in pounds in flat, except for a few NOS plates, and all kg plates are satin black.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

It seems that every milled York I see has a different pattern. Does anyone know how the milling process works?

Those Internationals are some attractive plates. I love the Deep Dish on them. I wonder why all of the current manufacturers got away from that. I know you can get more plates on the bar with thinner plates, but how many of us could really max out a bar with deep dish plates?

Dude, that's awesome. The collectors are going to flip out because you've altered their historic appearance. But I think they look great.

Jeebus Atty.. Squat stands??? Haven't you been paying attention? Get a power rack!!!
Lookin good^. If only you had a username worthy of the rarity of your collars...
On that note, do any of you guys condition the leather on your mere mortal versions of York spin lock collars? What do you use?
I just lost a little chunk out of one of mine and I'd like to try to prevent any further damage. I figure that some type of leather conditioning could make them less brittle and therefore increase the durability.[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] Equipment Crew #57 [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

Thanks. Yeah I'm sure some people will be annoyed that I altered them, but my philosophy on this stuff is totally different. I actually want to use it, give it another era of use as opposed to put it under glass. I'm going to use my early Oly set for deadlifting. I've dealt with this same debate before because I restore and make playable antique and rare music instruments. I think something has more value if it is usable and will go to that end while trying my best to retain the historic integrity of the item. I posted a write up on my restoration process over at the other website.
Bloodtype: I'm sure any basic leather conditioner would work on the collars.
Oh and ironically I made my username before I ever got the collars. It was premonition.()---() York Barbell Club #22 ()---()

When I get the remainder of the milled 45s I may be selling the plates that I stripped the paint off and sprayed with 3 coats of flat rustolium double coat . I just also refinished a few in satin black
I will post some pic when complete. I prefer all the plates with the older look / patina. What is a fair asking price per lb if I decide to sell a few hundred pounds of the milled plates 70-80s era that have been repainted ?Faith is Like a Muscle... It Must be Trained to Grow Strong. I've never seen that style of spinlock before, very nice. How much do they weigh? I always used to like the convenience of spring clip collars, but now I barely even use them. This style of collar just eliminates all rattle and keeps everything more stable. Good to see this pair getting a new lease of life, they should live on forever now.

I've got to believe that the value of the plates is about $1/lb., I wouldn't pay more personally, but some people might. Good luck.
The reason that I went with basic flat black is because it wears down quickly and will get a patina quickly. Mine had so much rust on some on some of them that WD-40 didn't work.

The collars weigh 5lbs each. They only fit on my 1940s bar which is the older style Olympic bar with a shorter mid section so it doesn't fit on a modern rack. When I get the whole 1940s set complete I'm going to set up an area in my basement to use it for deadlifting. I'm in the process of de-rusting and re-painting everything. I show more pics eventually.
Also, this pair of York spin locks is, as far as I know, the only pair that is known to collectors. No one has seen another pair, nor are there any photographs or mentions of them in vintage iron literature. They either had a very short production run or they are some sort of prototype model. It's hard to know exactly when they were manufactured but my best estimate based on circumstances is post war 1940s.()---() York Barbell Club #22 ()---()

For 45s and 25s, and unmilled smaller plates, I would estimate 75 cents a pound. 35s I would estimated at 85 cents to a dollar, and milled 10s and 5s at $2 a pound. $1.00 a pound is at the high end and anyone asking more for these relatively common plates is just plain high.
