i'm no expert but, cast iron is pourous, that water could find it's way deep into that iron and start rusting from the inside. moisture and iron don't mix. just my opinion.
Maybe I should have added that I always painted plates in the summer. After the soak, I laid them in my driveway for an entire day. Still, obviously I see your point. I have never soaked any Yorks

To get back on topic, did you see the 35 lb deep dishes on eBay.
They both look really good. Are the ones on the right repainted or original??

It would be good to have some of the barbell club memebers opinion on what pair looks better repainted.
#1 flat black non painted York
#2 satin black off white / silver letters
What do you prefer?

There's a dude in PA who sells powder coated vintage York plates on eBay.
Yea I dare a few people to call him I guarantee he will have you on the phone for an hour...
Before I was into York I had sand blasted and powder coated all my Ivanko weights it cost me a fortune. They were used on my nebula leg presses only and never touched the ground. I want to keep only my yorks playes. If anyone knows anybody who would want some really nice powder coated ivankos have them contact me you can also take a look i have them on ebay

I'm curious what he means by "Row bar for weight lifting" ...a T-bar handle?
Only issue I might have with the bench is that large pad gap, and I wish they had put a bench support on the end for when it is flat. I suspect the capacity could be higher.

I now possess two split sleeves... Both are cosmetically nice and will clean up in no time. One of them has an ever so slight wobble onmy rack pins.
Edit: one difference......the bar that looks a bit more used has way wider (1/2 in??)ring lines than the other bar which has really narrow ring lines (1/4 in)
