Hey Guys,
Quick question for you all. I have been going to the gym since January of 2011 and lost 75 pounds last year. This year my goal is to tone up what is left, I want people to look at me and know that I'm a gym rat :-) However, on leg and cardio day I leave the gym dripping in sweat but on upper body days, I can not seem to get to that point of "grossness". I lift until failure on every exercise, so I'm not sure what else to do. After my workout it's hard to hold up my protein shake to drink so I don't think at this point I can add any more weight, should I be concerned or just keep at it?
Thanks in advance for your advise!

[QUOTE=kimm4;856832773]Since when does leaving the gym in dripping sweat indicate a productive workout?
Well that was kind of my question, I wanted to make sure that I was getting a solid workout in and that there were other women out there not breaking into a full sweat everytime they left the gym :-)

[QUOTE=kerris80;856842203] Some women just do not sweat alot. I sweat everyday possibly because of southern heat and humidity on top of poor ventilation and tanning beds running non-stop next to the weight room in my gym. Doesn't mean you are not getting a good workout if you don't sweat

Sweat does not an intense workout make. How awkward was that sentence. Seriously, though. If you did as much as you could, don't "sweat" it. (I am killing it today!!)
Not being able to hold your protein shake, or problems washing your hair afterward the workout, are all good signs that you had an intense workout.

I worked out with a friend today. We did back and bis. He kept commenting about how I wasn't sweating and he was dripping. I told him I really just don't sweat that much when doing upper body. I started to towards the end when he made things crazy hard but for the most part I was dry. Now talk to me tomorrow during legs - I'll be soaked.
And with all the non-sweating, my biceps are still literally numb. So I wouldn't worry about not sweatingDanielle xoxo

Lol same.
Honestly, whether I sweat or not depends on the rep/set scheme and the temperature of the gym. My gym back home is always warm and thus I always break a sweat, whereas the gym on campus is super cold and I only sweat if I'm in a high rep range, like 8+.
Doesn't mean I'm working any harder, it just depends on the stimulus.

Seems normal OP. I sweat profusely when I do squats and DL, but not so much if I'm doing bench or military. And yeah I also tend to sweat more in the summer despite the gym being temp controlled (I think they probably let the temp go up a few degrees in summer anyways.)
Current PRs:
Bench Press: 200x1
Deads: 315x1
Back Squats: 275x1
