    Increasing Weight

So I'm sort of a beginner, been trying to build mass for a couple months now, seems to be working. I have a question about when and how to move up with weights.

So the example i will use is my shoulder exercises, i do shoulder presses with dumbbells, 3 sets of 10 reps. I currently use 10kg dumbbells and i can do all 3 sets, however, I am unable to complete 1 set using the next weights up which are 12.5. My question is how should i proceed?

    1. Stay as i am until i am able to use the 12.5's
    2. Add more sets to my routine
    3. Do as many reps as i can using the 12.5's
    3. Use a machine where i am able to tailor the weight better.
    4. Any other options I've not mentioned

    Any help would be great,

    cheers.

It would depend on what this means: "I am unable to complete 1 set using the next weights up".

I'd choose one of these 2 options:

    1. Work the 10s till you can do say 3 sets of 12 or 13.

    2. Use the 12.5s, no matter how many reps you can do, and work your way up to 3 x 10. Possibly add a fourth set with 10s.

Let me clarify. I means, i am only able to manage 5/6 reps in one set using the 12.5's, rather than the 10 I aim for.

Use the higher weights doing the 5 or 6 reps per set and work on increasing the reps.
