So I'm sitting at desk by the front door at work yesterday, and I see a dog run by. Now I work in an industrial park so I was like wtf is a dog doing here. So I went outside to see if he had a collar on so I could call the owner. He had a harness on him, but no collar, and no tags. He came right up to me and let me pet him, and I took him inside to figure out what to do with him (heavy equipment everywhere, didn't want him getting hurt). He's a pitbull mix, probably no older than 2.
So I got him inside and really looked at him, and I was disgusted. His rib cage was bulging out, and he was dirty as fuarkkk. He looked like he hadn't eaten for at least a week, and had been outside for a long time. So I assumed he either ran away, or his owner dumped him off. I gave him some water and went down the street to get him some food.
I didn't want to take him to an animal shelter because the local one puts dogs down if they don't find a home for them quickly (especially pits). So I called animal control, and the officer came down to my work to scan him to see if he had a microchip. I asked if she got any calls for anyone looking for him. She said no, and he didn't have a chip in him. She gave me two options. She can take him to an animal hospital for 10 days, and if nobody claims him then she'll take him to the animal shelter. The other option was that I take him, and she would put an ad in the local newspaper. If nobody claimed him after 10 days he would be mine.
**** the animal shelter, I took him home with me. This dog is so unbelievably well behaved. He sits on command. He loved the car ride home. Walks with a leash no problem.

I would hate to be a Pit Bull. By far they are the breed most owned by undesirables who mistreat them.
I have had five in my life and all were great dogs. They were loyal, intelligent and well behaved. They are stubborn though.

Make sure to ascertain whether or not he is dog aggressive. Have him on the leash and walk him past other dogs. Also make sure he has reliable re-call. These are imperative to the dogs long-term safety as you do not yet know if this dog suffers from any sort of mental trauma.

Aware.
He hasn't shown any signs of agression yet. By nature, if a dog feels threatened, especially a larger one like a pitbull, will defend itself. He came right up to me and let me pet him. He followed me around work all day. He walked right up to all the guys at work and played with them. When I got him home I took him for a walk at the local park and a ton of people walked over to me to pet him, and he went right to them wagging his tail and letting them touch him. He also so another dog (very small) and wanted to play, but he wasn't aggressive at all towards the other dog. \
Still early so we'll see how it goes, but so far so good.
Taking him to the vet tomorrow morning to get him checked out.
Uploading more pics now. Brb for someone to embed them for me
