If that's all you ate, you will definitely lose weight. Just give yourself enough time. I'd say around 2 weeks.
Huge calorie restriction isn't as terrible as a lot of people say. More than likely, you have a lot of fat to lose and muscle loss isn't a huge issue. It is going to be more beneficial to lose 30lbs in the first month than to lose 8lbs of pure fat. (If your BF is high, it's going to be mostly fat either way) I did 1800kcal/day when I started losing weight for the first 4 months.Jan 25 2011--- 361 lbs
Apr 19 2011--- 305 lbs
Aug 1 2011---- 279 lbs
Oct 1 2011---- 257 lbs
Jan 1 2012---- 237 lbs
Mar 1 2012--- 234 lbs
GOAL
Aug 1 2012 -- 210 lbs

1000 per day might be too low. You're guaranteed to lose weight, yes. But its going to slow down your metabolism. And you're just going to hit a plateau sooner. I've been this route before, I can promise you its not worth it. Like you said though, different things work for different people. I was about 270lbs a few years back, and ate about 1000 calories per day. I went down to about 210lbs. After eating properly and exercising, it all came back as fat, and very little muscle. I'm back in the 250's now, this time on 2400 calories, cutting VERY slowly.

Time to get out the food scale and measuring cups... Also if you track your cals religously for 3-4 weeks and the scale hasn't moved at 1500 cals you should go see a doctor about a possible issue.
Starting Weight 255lbs. 2/1/2011
Best weight so far 187lbs 5/1/2012 - Then got a hot gf a boat and gained fat lol...
Starting again for the finish line of 180lbs - 11/1/2012 @ 201lbs
